Aang pays Fire Lord Zuko a visit, but so does...an assassin. Neither of them make it out unscathed. Together, they pick up the pieces. A lot of holding each other and crying happens. (Also, for a moment there Aang procures some nail polish and makes a feeble attempt to turn it into a normal sleep-over.)

"I don't know what you're talking about." Zuko tries, and he really wishes she'd drop it and leave him alone because the pain is still there, a white-hot stone burning in his gut, and he's having trouble keeping his composure.
"Is it- your condition?"
"It's nothing." Zuko says. "It's fine."
"Well, which is it?" Katara asks, folding her arms and raising a brow. "It's either nothing or it's fine, but it can't be both. So?"

Zuko runs out of his medicine, and he does what he usually does: tries to hide the pain and grit his teeth through the hell week ahead of him. Luckily Katara sees right through his bullshit.

Summary
In which war is bloody, violent, and terrifying. Zuko is born the avatar due to unfortunate deaths, and such things as universal balance seem impossible when children are forced to fight in a war. To some Zuko may seem a poor choice for Avatar but with some help he may be able to save the world, or at least keep it from burning to the ground.

Summary
Zuko is not thrilled to be transferring to his old store and leaving his friends behind. He is even more unamused by his new coworkers, because he's not here to make friends, ok? He just wants to get his paycheck and leave.
That is definitely not going be easy, though, considering how quickly he (unfortunately) fell for one of his new "friends".

A young and very confused Zuko got caught rifling through the wrong wardrobe. Nothing was really the same after that: Battle lines were drawn, secrets kept, and promises broken that made everything that came before seem almost benign by comparison. Zuko's little world became a lot bigger very quickly - and the one thing that kept them sane through it all was their anchor, their Role Model.

Summary
Zuko doesn’t join the freedom fighters. It’s too risky for him and his uncle, and his uncle is the most important person to him. The freedom fighters hold a hate for the fire nation that makes Zuko know that he’ll never fit in with them; the inner fire within his body is enough proof for that.
He’s a survivor, but he’s still a firebender.
But Zuko, even though he’ll never admit it out loud, is lonely. He has Uncle, but Uncle is old and aging, and Zuko can’t connect with him in the way he so craves to have with someone. Being with Jet soothes that ache, makes Zuko feel alive in a way that oh so rarely happens anymore.
So when Jet asks if they can meet in two days after they arrive in Ba Sing Se, Zuko says yes.

“I’m going to go practice some firebending forms,” Zuko says stiffly, running a hand through the tangles in his hair. “Tell Aang to join me if he wants to once he wakes up.” Gold eyes dart up to where Aang had strung up a makeshift hammock and was still sleeping soundly, snoring like a buffalo yak.
“Alright,” Sokka says, watching as he walks out without another word, evidently having reverted back into his usual brooding self. “Have fun!” He calls after Zuko loudly, which he means to be sarcastic, but comes out painfully, embarrassingly sincere. His face burns, and as soon as Zuko passes out of sight into the the temple, Katara turns to him, leveling him with a Look.
“You like him.” She says, and it’s not a question.
