Summary
Lemony Snicket has always been surrounded by mystery, whether that mystery is something that needs solving or is instead one of his own secrets, kept close and tight to his chest. It's always been easier for him to surround himself with the problems of others and run when his own are revealed. But when Lemony makes a split-second decision on a train headed out of a dying town, his life and the lives of everyone left in Stain'd-by-the-Sea are suddenly derailed. With threats still lurking, secrets spilling out into the open, and too many loose ends to count, Lemony is in over his head- and with VFD's eyes watching his every move, running isn't an option.
Structures built on lies are always bound to shatter. But, though the healing can hurt, it is never impossible to fix what's been broken.
Or: The ending of "Why is This Night Different From All Other Nights?" ruined me. Lemony Snicket and his Association of Associates have already been hit with enough mystery and hurt for a lifetime, so I pile on some more (but let them heal in the process).

The trail of accidents running after the Baudelaire children were suspicious enough, the circumstances seemed more suspicious though. A fire that had killed their parents, the placing of care into one Count Olaf when he was far from their closest relative, the fact that he seemed to follow them wherever they went. Bruce knew those couldn't all be coincidences, though it could be chalked up to idiots not knowing how to care for them it didn't mean that was the only thing. He could tell Count Olaf was likely behind it but if these children were in danger they needed help.
So he took it into his own hands.

The Baudelaire family lives in a large mansion in the center of a busy city. The family is happy until the day the mansion burns down with the parents inside it. The Baudelaire children, now orphans, aren’t so happy anymore. They are placed in the care of a careless banker, who, in accordance with the Baudelaire parents’ will, sends them to live with two separate, but equally unknown, relatives — in between two locations not listed in the will.
No matter if the location is in their parents' wishes or not, the Baudelaires are pursued by villainous actor and active villain, Count Olaf. With the assistance of his horrid henchpeople, Count Olaf tries to get his rarely washed hands on the enormous fortune the Baudelaire parents left behind for their children through a manner of nefarious plots, including kidnapping, disguises, trickery, hypnotism, murder, and, most terrible of all, badly done theatre.

Only an introduction so far, I'd like to see the events leading up to the schism and pretty much the whole story of VFD told from another POV than Lemony's, as he seems a bit too keen to paint his opponents as monsters with no morale whatsoever and poor corporal hygiene. But I'm not sure I'll have the inspiration/will/time (words that here mean "looking for an excuse not to follow up") to write it.

After 9 years since it was known that the Baudelaire orphans have left the island, I have finally found sufficient evidence of the events the transpired afterwards.
If by chance you have been quite unlucky these past few days, then I regret to inform you that today is another unlucky day for you. If you have thought that the terrible tales about the lives of the Baudelaire orphans were already finished, I suggest you continue living on with that belief. It would be best to find another book to read in order to spare yourself from the misery and despair that awaits you upon further progression into this book's contents.
Surely there must something more preferable than reading about what happened to the two sets of well-known orphans, a former hotel manager, a vague trail of sightings, scrumptious carrot cake, and other unpleasant details you certainly would not be interested in.
