Summary
Captain America is a hero to the nation, but an uncomfortable cage for Steve Rogers. He is confined by his reputation as the boring Avenger, Mr. Goody-Two-Shoes, and has long given up on hope to change his public image.
Then he meets James Barnes, the infamous assassin also known as the Winter Soldier, who recently switched sides and is now working for the US instead of Russia. Barnes is tall, dark and handsome with his man-bun and eyeliner, and everything Steve shouldn’t want but does.
But just as there is more to Steve than Cap, there is more to Barnes than the Soldier - but will they be able to see that and find happiness?

Summary
They saved the world, but now they have to keep living.
After it all, Bucky sticks close to Steve's side. He doesn't remember much from before the soldier, only bits and pieces. Steve fills in where he can, but when Steve's account and Bucky's memories don't quite line up, Bucky starts to wonder what Steve is hiding from him. And why are so many of his old memories romantic?
This is a story about miscommunication. And roommates.
"Because he didn’t remember his mother, his father. Apparently, he had a sister, but he couldn’t picture her face. He didn’t remember school, or when he stopped going to school and started working. He knows he went on a lot of dates, but couldn’t name a sweetheart. He didn’t remember the bulk of the war. Or his fall. He remembered every second as the soldier, but with a level of distance, seen through glass. He felt guilty for that time, but guilty like watching a crime and doing nothing, not like committing one. That was one for the therapist.
Of the few things Bucky knew for a fact to be true, the one he is most sure of is that he loved Steve and always had."

So it cuts all the deeper, when Steve recognizes strength, precision, endurance, capacity: sees the pieces of himself not born but made, reflected in this body, this person, this weapon: the Winter Soldier.
It slices through Steve’s soul when he returns the Soldier's gaze, and reads the only thing that lives in the deadness that pervades behind those irises in the night.

Summary
For once, it’s not a dark specter from Bucky’s past that’s come back to haunt them. That, as far as he is concerned, is great. A nice change of pace. Something he can bring up next time Sam complains about all the skeletons that are hiding in Bucky’s mansion full of closets.
He’s the one with the gun to his head right now, though, so maybe Sam’s at least got a point with that whole “you can’t even get out of bed in the morning without running into something dangerous” bit that he does.
Or: Somehow, Bucky keeps ending up on the wrong side of the past. Even the pasts that don’t belong to him.

In 2015, Steve and the Avengers search for Bucky Barnes, thanks to a little extra intel from the future. GEN-based hurt/comfort/angst story, heavy on friendship, recovery, and examination of one very traumatized guy from the 1940s. COMPLETE, Standalone.
This canon-based multi-verse story takes place immediately after Age of Ultron. What does that mean? Because this is part of my Winter Soldier Time Travel series, it takes place in a canon-compliant timeline offshoot from the original canon-based story. I recommend you read Part 1 of the series (Winter Soldier: Resurrection), but you can easily understand this story without doing so. However, Part 1 is an easy read, less than 40K words, and it'll give you the background for this story. Part 2 of the series isn't relevant to Part 3, so you don't have to read that long story to understand this one at all. The end of Part 1 leads directly into Part 3 (Isn't the MCU multiverse fun?).
