“I want to know what you look like when you come undone,” Albedo says.
Kaeya shudders.
“Is that so?” he rasps.
“Yes,” Albedo says. “I want to see what happens when you stop pretending to be invincible.”
Kaeya laughs. It’s breathless. Unsteady. “Darling, I’ve never been invincible. I’ve just been very, very good at misdirection.”
“Then don’t misdirect,” Albedo says, fingers drifting again—closer now. Still not touching where Kaeya wants, but God, it’s unbearable. “Be honest.”
Kaeya tilts his head back. “Honesty is terrifying.”
“So is desire,” Albedo murmurs. “But you’ve let me have both, haven’t you?”
His fingers curl. Just slightly. Paint smears over the edge of Kaeya’s hipbone.
Or, Kaeya agrees to pose for Albedo, but becomes the one painted in gold, in reverence, in oil and longing.

Gavin Reed didn't want a partner, especially not *Connor*. Plastic prick came in, tried to take his job, kicked off a revolution, and left Gavin out cold on the floor of the evidence room.
But that was six months ago. And six months, apparently, is a long fucking time.
Long enough for prejudices to crack. Long enough to catch feelings he had no idea what to do with.
Gavin spent his whole life learning that hope gets you nowhere. That nothing good sticks. People leave- or worse, they got tired of him and stayed just long enough to make it hurt. So he stopped wanting things entirely.
Until Connor, relentless, patient, and stupidly kind, started looking at him like he was worth something. Like he was worth sticking around for.
And maybe Gavin wanted to believe it.
Five times he held himself back... and one time he didn't.
