"Who says I care,” Katsuki says, louder.
“Come on, Bakugou, you know it’s not gonna be as fun without you. You can’t just sit out.” And then he points that stupid smile towards him. “You’re coming, right?”
And yeah, obviously he’s coming. Obviously he’d take the seat next to Kirishima on the couch. Obviously he’d take his ice cream. Usually it’d be no question that Katsuki would let Kirishima stick to him like a weird magnet and drag him around, but lately, that’s been complicated.
Because Katsuki saw it - the mark on the back of Kirishima’s neck. It’s usually covered by hair. When you sleep in someone’s bed, you see these things.
This year, the start of summer vacation only seems to make it feel more clear that Class 3A’s time at UA is coming to an end. Eijirou and Katsuki have both settled into the way they feel about each other. But how the other feels, and what would unfold if they actually talked about the soulmarks they've had for years - that, they'll have to find out this summer.

They both fell into an uneasy silence, the heat radiating from Kou’s body not feeling as warm and comfortable as it did before, the cold air from the night breeze suddenly hitting him with more force. Ghosts were supposed to be cold, sure, but Mitsuba felt as if he was trapped in a freezer, frozen and unable to move.
Kou's voice quivered with uncertainty as he continued to grapple at Mitsuba's confession. He was at a lost for words- he couldn't easily dismiss it, still, of course he couldn’t- the moonlight shone on him like a spotlight, urging him to say something.

After the festival, Mitsuba decides to confess how he really feels to Kou; it goes better than expected.
