Summary
Henry still leaves, but he leaves before the summer get-away, before the I love you declaration. So Alex doesn’t come after Henry and they never reunite. There are also no email leaks, no beards and no coming out. One day Henry and Alex are lying in their Paris hotel and the next day Henry stops taking Alex’s call. This is Henry’s story as he navigates, what it means to be a prince and fall in love with a boy. To be broken and still want love. They eventually meet, but it is a long and lonely road before that happens.

Summary
Everything is fine.
Maddie and Chim have welcomed their baby boy — Kevin Daniel Robert Buckley Han — named after the men they loved and lost. Hen has finally put aside her fears and accepted the captaincy of the 118. And most importantly, Athena and Chim have made peace with each other, because the man they both respected and loved, Bobby, would have wanted it that way.
So it’s fitting that the first gathering at Athena's new home is a proper 118 barbecue. Everyone is in the yard, enjoying themselves — celebrating having made it through the hellfire of last week, welcoming baby Robert into the family, and saying goodbye to Eddie before he transfers to the El Paso Fire Department.
A barbecue that Bobby would have been proud of.
In the midst of all this happiness, though, no one notices the lone figure standing quietly in the corner — looking a little lost, out of place, and alone.
You were wrong, Bobby. They don’t need me.
So Buck leaves.
He sets down the mac and cheese casserole — the one Bobby taught him to make — on the side table, and walks away. They won’t miss him.
They don’t need him.

Summary
This fic lives in the spaces Rachel Reid leaves quiet. It follows Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov from the end of Heated Rivalry through The Long Game, then imagines a future shaped by love, community, and consequence.
Chapters 1–16 focus on the four-year gap between Heated Rivalry and The Long Game. These chapters trace the long, uneven process of staying in love while being forced apart by careers, secrecy, and fear. They linger on stolen moments, missed calls, private rituals, and the emotional labor of choosing each other over and over again after committing exclusively to each other.
Chapter 17 is a deliberate rewrite of a key scene from The Long Game that I couldn’t live with as written.
Chapters 18–45 imagine what comes after The Long Game in the upcoming Unrivaled era through my thoughts. This section centers on Shane and Ilya learning how to live publicly, build a community. Luca Haas becomes a vital part of that future, not as a threat, but as proof of how love expands rather than divides. Together with their growing chosen family, they confront an antagonistic podcast, TopShelf.

Summary
вечнозеленый
(vechnozelenyy: evergreen)After meeting eyes at the club, Ilya and Shane have to cut the shit and just say the words they're scared of saying. An alternate timeline for the two of them to make or break, diverging from after episode 4 of the first season, serving as a sort of parallel fix-it to the series.
Told in 7 parts with varying perspectives, the installments work as stand-alone pieces but it is encouraged that the series be read in the order it was posted, easily moving between both series with end-note navigation. It is decidedly happy ending, a scrapbook of snapshots from Shane and Ilya's life finally being as close to together as they can manage and carving out some semblance of a shared future over a roughly six-year timeline.

Summary
"Shane Hollander is retiring."
Ilya rolled over to look at his wife, next to him in bed in one of his old Boston t-shirts. She was staring at her phone, scrolling rapidly.
"What do you mean, Hollander is retiring?" Ilya felt strangely winded. He had hardly seen Hollander outside the rink in more than a decade, but he found himself unable to imagine playing hockey without him.
He thought back to the last time he'd seen — really seen — Hollander. Hollander had Ilya's cock in his mouth. Ilya could still remember the blend of annoyance and need on Hollander's face, the tears in the corner of his eyes. Ilya had wanted to dominate him, to take him apart, to wreck him and then put him back —
Svetlana interrupted the memory.
Or: Ilya and Shane stopped seeing each other before the Sochi Olympics. When Ilya hears Shane is retiring, he decides it's finally time to reconnect.
