Tim came a little closer, kneeling in front of him.
“Dames?”
Tim tilted Damian’s head up a little, finding streaks of tears running down his face.
He gathered his baby brother into his arms, careful to keep Red Hood’s jacket around him. Damian did nothing for a moment but then all at once he was burying his head into Tim’s neck, clutching onto his sweater as if it were the only thing keeping him grounded.
“I’ve got you,” Tim murmured, holding him close. “It’s okay now, we’re going home.”
Damian only trembled harder, making a wounded sound that Tim had never wanted to have to hear, never wanted Damian to ever make again.
Tim hushed him, pecking the top of his head.
It was a testament of how scared Damian was, the fact that he did not pull away from the contact, only clutching onto Tim more tightly, giving off a wrenching sob.
“Shh, it’s okay Little D, shh…”

Tim made a surprised noise and his eyes snapped up to Bernard, his eyebrows so high they disappeared under his bangs. Uh. Maybe he wasn't upset, and he'd never known Tim to be particularly shy. So...
"You like that?"
Tim made another noise, then pulled back, because having a dick in his mouth wasn't very conducive to having a conversation. Bernard couldn't help a small whine of disappointment at the loss.
"What?" Tim asked, voice rough. His cheeks were still flushed red.
"Hum, it just seemed that you liked it when I said that."
Tim's eyebrows furrowed, and he looked away, turning the words around in his head.
After a little, he seemed to reach a conclusion.
"I guess." Ok, so not much of a conclusion. Which was fine, there was no rush, they could figure it out together.
Or: While messing around, Bernard realizes Tim has a massive praise kink.

“Damian... Damian, are you with me?” he cradled the back of Damian’s head with one hand and, with the other, he gently pushed his shoulder to roll him onto his back. He scanned his body for injuries. He almost flinched back.
Instead of the usual grey colour on Damian’s chest he found red. Not blood. Red Kevlar. Green shoulders, uncovered arms and two green gloves tied together by some metallic, enormous handcuffs. Bruce’s eyes shot up to his face instantly, his stomach tightening. White lenses met his; white lenses surrounded by green, hidden under dark locks of hair, blinked back at him.
Tim.
Tim, his other Robin. It was Tim.
[In Bruce's defence, if your two sons practice vigilantism under the same name and wear the same haircut and similar costumes, there is no way you'll never mistake one for the other.]

Summary
Have you ever seen someone outside the place you normally know them and just… not recognised them? Like spotting a teacher in the supermarket, or your doctor out walking their dog, and your brain takes a second to catch up? Psychologists even have a name for it; the “butcher-on-the-bus” effect. Out of context, even the people closest to us can look like strangers. And sometimes, it’s not their face that brings them back to you at all, but their voice, their laugh, or the way they still crack a joke when they really shouldn’t.
When you hear a deep rumbling voice emanating from something that seems more shadow than man you don’t question who is speaking. That’s obviously Batman.

Clark heard it just as he stepped out the front entrance of The Daily Planet’s building. The sun had already set, a chilly autumn breeze dragging through his coat. It had been a late evening for him, catching up on drafts for his next few articles before some other emergency stole his attention from his work.
“Kal-el.”
He straightened, perking towards Gotham. Something cold gripped his heart as he listened for that familiar heartbeat. The voice was unmistakable; low, rough, and steady, one that grounded Clark almost as quick as Ma’s. In battle, hearing it usually meant there was a plan, that Clark could worry a little less about details; because the man he trusted the most – with his life and the lives of his family – had it under control. It soothed Clark when he faltered, bolstered him when his strength wavered, and steadied him when he teetered on the edge of sensory madness.
And that voice sounded afraid.
Clark was suited up and hurtling through the air towards Gotham before Bruce whispered again.
“Kal–” came his quiet gasp. “I’m sorry.”

Summary
Jason makes him wait.
Unsurprising - these days everything with Jason seems to be some sort of challenge. Bruce knows that the mer is probably more or less right in front of him, lurking at the bottom of the pool until he’s satisfied that he’s annoyed Bruce enough.
Tim wriggles unhappily, clearly very wary of the entire situation now that he knows there are other, far bigger mers involved. Bruce bounces him gently, watching the water.
Inevitably, Jason’s curiosity wins out.
The scarlet, triangular dorsal fin breaches the water, circling slowly, his broad body an ominous shadow just below the surface.
He approaches the beach, and Bruce tenses. More than once Jason has lunged out of the water, snapping his teeth, just to try and startle him.
But this time, he slows down. His head rises up out of the water, narrowed green eyes landing immediately on Tim.
“Jaylad,” Bruce says, tone careful. He slowly lowers himself to kneel on the sand, not caring that it’s getting on his suit. Tim shifts his weight, and Bruce tightens his grip, sensing that he’s considering trying to eel right over Bruce’s shoulder to try and get away. “I’d like you to meet Tim.”
