Summary
Shenanigans ensue when one middle finger to the Academy too many gets Starfleet Cadet James T. Kirk booted off planet for a summer internship aboard the V.S.S. Sh'Raan.
He's hiding a major secret from the oh so earnest and helpful Vulcans, but the longer he's on the ship, the more Jim starts to wonder if they're keeping secrets from him, too.

Captain Spisee handed Jim a heavy sheet of rich, cream paper embossed with gold dusted Vulcan calligraphy bearing the ship’s name. It was a bit cheap by the standards of Vulcan stationary aesthetics, but shipboard life meant some sacrifices. In the most elegant handwriting he’d ever had the privilege to lay eyes on, it read:

Amanda squeezed his knee affectionately while rolling her eyes in Jim’s direction. “There always is, my love.” Jim winked back at her.
“Were you both Vulcans, then upon the sealing of their adult bond you would share a treasured memory of your son’s childhood with his new spouse.”
“Psi null.” Jim tapped his temple with one finger.
“But I am not,” said Sarek. “If you permit me, I would join both your minds and allow you to see how Spock, at a mere eight months of age, prevented a diplomatic disaster.”
Amanda grinned. “You’ll also get to see me when I was young and hot!”

Summary
Welcome to the Zine O'Biology - an in-universe Star Trek academic journal! While others were busy writing in-depth academic style articles on Xenobiology, I was busy writing Academic Beef style letters to the editor and "recruiting advertisers" by dangling funny prompts in front of artists.
I humbly present my bonkers letters to the editor here. If you enjoy them then you owe it to yourself to check the whole Zine out! The Zine O'Biology features the work of three dozen writers and over 30 artists, and is chock full of fan written academic articles on alien biology, gorgeous art and illustrations, and ads from across the Alpha and Beta quadrants. You'll find aliens from every Star Trek series, including some deep cuts (you know you want to see an anatomical diagram of a Horta!) alongside fan favorites like Vulcans and Klingons.

Spock lifts one perfect brow. “That is not generally the first question I am asked by people aware of my work.”
“Jim and air have a history,” Uhura says, and Jim could strangle her until he sees something change in Spock’s gorgeous, gorgeous eyes about it.
“Air and I are on perfectly fine terms.” He self-consciously touches the mouthpiece of his breather, which is in its magnet holster at his hip just like it always has been, to really punctuate what a massive liar he is.
