But as he stands before Tommy, his shoulders shaking, and his eyes shining in the moonlight, he’s about as close as he gets to it. Tommy reaches up to grab his hand with his smaller ones. He hadn’t meant to make him sad.
He just wanted to tell him how much he missed his dad!
How he didn’t mind dying if it meant Phil would be his family again.
“You’re not supposed to be this…this small. Is this how bad we failed you?” It’s barely said over a whisper. Tommy has to strain his ears to even make out the words.
“I promise Tommy,” Phil says his eyes growing a fire in them. “We’re going to make this right. We’ll make it go away.”
And under the snowfall of the arctic winds. Tommy can’t help but believe him.

Summary
Pac has let himself deteriorate under the stress of Cell coming back. Murders happening across the Island and threats over his head have caused him to isolate and take drastic measures to protect himself. But when he deteriorates past the point of being able to care for himself Fit comes to pick up the pieces. Fit would do anything to take care of Pac and make him well again, but while he plays the role of caretaker he struggles with his feelings for his friend and roommate. Things come to a head when Pac asks Fit to talk him to sleep, and Fit says more than intended.

The repetition of the motion is strangely calming.
“Why?” Pac asks sounding genuinely curious as he jumps up to sit on the kitchen counter. Fit would scold him if that wasn’t the same counter where Ramòn put together his oil and rust filled inventions.
“Because I can.” The answer is juveniles but it is the honest reason why Fit had suddenly felt compelled to try his hand at making bread.
