Summary
A tale that picks up a year after the events of 3.06 (3.07 never happened).
Lexa and Clarke share a life but tap dance around admitting what it means. Octavia and Raven acknowledge what they are to each other, but Lincoln's ghost keeps them from taking the last step. The Skaikru girls deal with the emotional fallout of surviving the war with the City of Light. Lexa struggles with the fact that she did not die on the battlefield (winning was easy, ruling is harder), and what it means to have people in her life that she cares deeply about. All of them try and ignore what it means that they have all grown to depend on each other to cope with the world.
And then, there is A.L.I.E., looming dark and vengeful, slowly leaking back into reality and threatening to destroy the tentative peace that has been struck.

Summary
It’s July 2006, and Faith and Buffy are being sent to investigate a series of unidentified demon attacks taking place at resorts along the California coast. Staying and slaying at an all-inclusive resort with Buffy sounds like Faith’s dream come true. The catch? The location is a honeymoon resort, meaning Faith and Buffy have to go undercover as a newlywed couple while they investigate.
Or: Faith Lehane has rings on her left hand that say Buffy is hers, except this whole marriage thing is only temporary and, worse than that, it isn’t even real.

Faith knows that she isn’t getting a taste of anything she’ll get to keep, and she accepts that. If Buffy had ever given her a chance, Faith knew it would’ve been temporary. Just a hook-up. But at least there would be proof that Buffy wanted Faith, even if it was for one night only. The real gut punch here is the fact that as close as she and Buffy are going to be during the next week, absolutely none of it is real. It’ll mean everything to Faith, and nothing to the woman currently asleep (and quite possibly drooling) on Faith's shoulder.
And that, more than anything else, is going to be Faith’s undoing.

Summary
Buffy realizes pretty quickly that when you come back from the missing-slash-presumed-dead, no matter how many questions people ask, there are some things they don't want to hear about. Cordelia, strangely, serves as a source of comfort: their feet move in perfect time until the brunette girl turns abruptly to face her.
"You fucked up," Cordy says, matter of fact. She's not being kind, but she's not being cruel, either. She's just being Cordelia, which is strangely reassuring. "I don't know what you were going through, and to be honest, I don't think I want to, because it was probably really dark and scary and horrifying. But you shouldn't have left. The answer is never leaving."

A season 3 AU in which Buffy comes back from L.A. to strained relationships, Faith accidentally becomes the Scoobies' therapist, and everything goes a little better when characters can learn how to have healthy, open communication.
(Or: Dead Man's Party did not do justice to the amount of emotional aftermath from the season 2 finale/season 3 pilot, so I stretched those arguments and rebuilding trust out across most of season 3. And now Buffy's friends with Gunn. There, see? Better already.)

Her breaths are heavy and there’s a dull ache in her shoulders. Her chin was against her chest, her eyes squeezed shut from the pain that radiates through her body.
