Our story begins with a simple decision, Giles does not return to England. Who would have thought that such a simple thing could bring about so much tragedy? Giles still feeling the loss of his Slayer, his buffy. The memories of her laying there broken after she 'fell' burned into his mind. But in his heart something else burned, the darkness that is the past. Ripper, the cold place he touched when he killed Ben to save the world. He would never admit it out loud, but he liked it. He always did.

Summary
Here's the thing: When you throw yourself on top of an alien byproduct that you've been told is going to explode, you can assume that's going to happen. It's what happens after, that no one can prepare you for.
Especially when the alien byproduct you've thrown yourself on top of is actually some kind of infinitely powerful stone from another universe that no one has ever been able to control until now, and that stone has some kind of sentient component because it has decided that you're fit to wield it's power. And, since this power is so volatile and not of your universe, you have to relocate realms and leave everyone you've ever known behind, believing that you're dead.
Yep. Not even Bruce Wayne could prepare you for something like that.

Summary
When someone had told Vex that the Gatestone only worked on the same plane, she wished she hadn't believed them, because this was definitely not where she had planned to go.
Vex uses the Gatestone and ends up trapped in another world, with no way to get back home. She meets the cast of Critical Role and learns that something bigger may be at play both in her world and this new one. Now she has to find a way to save both worlds and get back to her own, all while trying not to give away her identity to anyone other than the Vox Machina of this world.
This is going to be harder than she thought.
Vex gets thrown into the world of Critical Role and meets some new (and some old) friends.
