The sea is his lover emotionally and spiritually, embedded in his blood. The freedom in the air in his lungs is thick with adventure, choking him with the prospect of riveting danger and a whirlwind of trouble he thrives on. Only recently has he got his hands on the physicality of the sea. He can touch it with his fingers, and he leaves bruises to keep it in his grasp. Keep him in his grasp, dig his fingers and adorn him with jewelry he slit throats for.

Everyone had a soulmate, even warlocks. The problem with being a warlock, though, was the fact that immortality made it impossible to know when your soulmate would finally be born. Magnus thought the universe was being cruel on him for making him wait 400 years and counting.
He knew he had a soulmate though, because the moment he turned 16 he had to go through the same ritual as everyone else: making the promise.
Written for the Malectine's Day 2023 Challenge. My prompt was "promise".
