“Hello?” he half-shouts and then slaps his forehead. Yeah, great, just call out to the axe murderer, that’ll save you for sure.
Magnus clicks on the lamp, then shuffles out of bed and gets his robe that’s on the back of the armchair in the room. He puts it on his shoulders, covering his bare chest and well, it’s a burglar, he hasn’t got time to change his pajama bottoms.
He sneaks into the corridor and hears another thump from downstairs. His breathing quickens as he approaches the stairs. “Okay, okay, chill, just Chairman, probably.”
He hears a muffled, “Ah, fuck,” and freezes on top of the chairs.
As much as Magnus has wished for it, he’s sure that Chairman hasn’t magically obtained the ability to speak.

Or, Magnus gets an intruder at 3 a.m. But his cat likes this intruder, so maybe he's not all that bad?

Alec had always thought he’d known fear.
Not just as a concept, but a living, breathing thing that existed inside him almost constantly. Those around him had taught him fear as a child. They’d told him of the demons that lurked in the dark, ready to take out anyone and everyone dear to him, and he’d been taught to work past that fear so he could do what needed to be done. They’d taught him to acknowledge it, embrace it, and move beyond it, until Alec did it instinctively, until that fear became almost nothing. A small thing barely even acknowledged.
Alec had thought he’d known what fear was. That he’d felt, breathed, tasted it, a memory that would always remain burned into him in those deep, dark places where he hid all his hurt.
He was wrong.
Every time he thought he’d been truly afraid, life seemed to find a way to rise up and prove to him just how wrong he was. How much more fear there was for him to feel.
It’d been Alec’s almost constant companion this past week. Ever since the evening where he’d gotten a phone call from Catarina, and she’d said those words to him, the words that had changed everything: “Magnus is missing.”

Welcome to a tropical island with Malec! ☀️🌴
Magnus is a lonely warlock who lives on an isolated island in the Indian ocean. He had got bored of people in general and the warloc community in particular, because there was always somebody demanding something from him. So he decided to retire and move to one of his islands, which he had won about one hundred years ago in some silly bet.
Alec is a marine biologist who enjoys his lonely adventures in his small sailing boat, where he lives and makes his diving investigations whenever he wants. His boat is modern and full of hightech equipement and a fully furnished laboratory, and of course a small corner to sleep, cook and eat. He had been sailing with his boat for quite a few months now, and decided to stop at an isolated island and look for water.
I am not a marine biologist nor a sailor so please excuse any mistakes I may make with regard to this part of the story.
Characters in this story are based on Cassandra Clare's books and on the Shadowhunters tv- series. But the story is all mine. In this fic, there is little bit of the shadow world included, but not in great detail.
