The monkey king remembers interacting with the Outer God through the channel’s indirect messages– before, when he’d thought the Secretive Plotter was a fellow constellation chasing after Kim Dokja, and somehow feeling a strange kinship with that faceless modifier.
He also remembers the emotions that had crescendoed up to that point during the retelling of the Journey to the West, the Secretive Plotter’s growing distance from the channel and Sun Wukong’s growing suspicion. The way Sun Wukong felt about this guy was complicated.
What a convoluted mess, the monkey king thought, and he scoffed a little at the sensation of eyes now on him.
