But sometimes he feels like this is all he'll ever want to know: the thrill of being shoved in-between places like he's a well-kept secret, the constant precariousness of the line they're treading. He likes to think his heart was an acrobat, his sanity the balancing act.
And there is Derek, holding the other end of the tightrope that's keeping him afloat.

“I know.”
“They—” Stiles choked and focused his gaze on the alpha. “W-what?”
Amidst the rubble, the groaning building, the wailing, and the scent of burning metal, Derek looked calm. The alpha ascended one step, closer to Stiles. “My love, listen to me—”
“What is going on?” Stiles’ throat dried.
“I said, listen.”
The omega’s mouth clamped shut, his lips trembling. The muscles in Derek’s jaw bulged as if he struggled to stay still.
“I am taking you hostage.”
Stiles’ chest stilled. His lips parted. He went completely stiff, watching Derek’s lips move, but the words made no sense.
“Derek…” he murmured hoarsely, shaking his head. “What…”
“I am not going to hurt you.” Derek’s voice went hard as steel. He spread his arms as if showing the lack of armor. “But you are coming with me. It is an order. Do you understand me?”
Stiles shifted his gaze from his mouth to his eyes and flinched back.
They were red. Burgundy, like the blood splatters marring his face.
And just like that, everything became clear.

“How long do we have?” Derek’s breath was husky and aroused, his eyes never leaving Stiles’ lingerie clad body.
Derek had a slight lisp from where his fangs had dropped down into his mouth, his salivary glands working overtime in his arousal, and his claws were extended, digging mercilessly into the mattress. Derek was so turned on right now and the Wolf was so close to the surface, Stiles’ didn’t know where he had found the restraint to sit there as still as he was. He sounded so close already, Stiles just wanted him to let loose.
“Until sunrise.”
Derek raised an eyebrow, too slowly and too meticulously to be casual. “That’s quite a lot of time.”
“Let’s make the best of it.” Stiles’ fingers brushed over his swollen belly and Derek growled in answering arousal.

Because Stiles had reminded his dad—multiple times—to book the damn flight before prices went up, but Sheriff Stilinski forgot, and now Stiles is trapped in Derek Hale’s self-modified, apocalypse-ready Toyota FJ Cruiser for a twelve-hour drive home in a snowstorm with nothing but mutual hatred and unresolved teenage grudges for company. What starts as a petty road trip filled with aggressive silence, judgmental snack commentary, territorial road navigation, and one deeply inconvenient bathroom emergency slowly tightens into something unbearably tense, something electric. It's the kind of disaster that feels inevitable, the kind where you know things are going to go wrong.

It hadn’t been difficult to convince Bruce that this is a trap--no, he’d readily agreed to that--the leaving it well enough alone and letting Clark handle it he’d argued against--loudly. Clark can’t deny that he’s probably right--that whatever trap lies on this ship is almost certainly going to be laced with kryptonite and enough firepower to end his life once he’s weakened.
That doesn't mean he has to like hanging back and watching Bruce walk into a trap that's meant for him, and once it's sprung, he likes it even less.

Derek thinks he holds the trump card when he explains to Stiles that as a human, the only way he'd be safe is if he was Derek's mate. Of course, that deters Stiles approximately zero percent, and that's how he ends up parading around as Stile's (fake) mate.
