Summary
The start of this AU begins with this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBuFROQAPi4
The premise of this AU is basically that rather than Leland (the name of Jim's dad from the Treasure Planet artbook) marrying Sarah and having a kid young, they skipped the marriage step and went straight to having a kid out of wedlock, Leland panicked and fled, leaving behind a pregnant, unmarried Sarah. After Jim is actually born and the weight of parenthood fully hits her, she gets on a ship in a last desperate bid to try and find Leland in the fragile hope that maybe physically seeing his living son will get him to come back and at least be a father for Jim's sake since she doesn't want her boy to grow up fatherless. That same ship just happens to be one Silver is working on as cook (no piracy shenanigans, just a regular, steady job) and long story short, Sarah went on the boat to look for Jim's father and ended up finding a different man who wanted to be his father.
The stories that take place in this series are what follows after that. I may not write them in chronological order depending on what I feel up to, but I'll at least make sure they're in chronological order for the series.

Summary
Jim sneaks around in the middle of the night to look after his new baby siblings so his parents can get the rest they need, but ends up getting caught. Sneaking around isn’t an easy task when your Pap has ridiculously good hearing and a knack for knowing when you’re up to your usual antics. Good thing John is a big ol softie who can’t stay mad at his son even when he wants to.
Alternatively titled: Jim is a good boy who wants to help, John is tired but always has time for his son, and Sarah thinks this whole thing is absolutely hilarious.

Summary
It's been twenty years since Jim went on that fateful voyage to Treasure Planet and turned his life around. Now he's an admiral for the Royal Navy, and on one trip when he goes down into the hold to fetch up some supplies for the galley, he stumbles across an eleven-year-old mantavore child named Desmond O'Dair who stowed away on his ship to escape some gang members at port. They can't do anything with him until they reach the next port anyway, so Jim takes him under his wing and makes him the temporary new cabin boy.
Over the course of the journey to deliver classified Naval documents to Port Ivy, Jim begins to bond with the boy as Silver did with him years ago, but on the way, Jim learns that other alien kids are being kidnapped and is forced to wonder if the gang Desmond was running from is part of a much larger operation.
