“God,” Scaramouche finally managed to say. I think I love you. Isn’t that crazy? We just met and I love you. “Sorry.” He stopped laughing, twisting his hands together on his lap as he looked ahead at Childe.
“Think that’s the first time I’ve seen you smile,” he replied, giving one in return. “You looked so sad when I met you.”
Scaramouche hummed. “Do I not look sad now?”
Childe looked at him with that glimmer in his eye, gaze raking over his body. He took in the expression on his face, with the way that his features looked a lot more open, and how the corners of his lips turned upwards. “Not anymore.”

Summary
After surviving a suicide attempt, Scaramouche is left to confront not only his own pain but also the pain it caused the person who loves him the most. Recovery was never something Scaramouche planned for. He doesn't know how to move forward, and a part of him still isn't sure he wants to. But Childe never leaves, not even when Scaramouche pushes. Both boys have to help each other heal from what happened and learn to forgive themselves for their own guilt.

Dottore’s fingers slip inside his ribcage, pushing his lungs slightly to the side to reveal the emptiness beneath. Scara’s vision darkens, but he can still make out the blurry shapes, watching himself breathe, in and out.
"Scaramouche," Dottore says, his thumb swiping away a tear he didn't realize was dripping down his cheek. "Do you trust me?"
Scara looks back up at him, this bastard, this crazy fucking genius, and he feels his vision go double. Two sets of the Doctor look down upon him, long icy hair, deep red eyes, soft lips set in a determined line. Vermillion floods his mind, a sea of emotions he can't even name, and he feels himself nod frantically. "Yes."
Dottore smiles. "Good."
Scaramouche finds completion.

Childe’s eyebrows furrowed as Scaramouche clamped his hand over his mouth to stop him from talking. “Shut up, I don’t want to hear your shit right now.” He mumbled, licking his lips in search for any remaining blood. He didn’t want to look at Childe either. If he looked at his gorgeously freckled face, he’d have to think about what he was doing. If he didn’t look at him he could just pretend he was going to do this with some random stranger or something.
Childe, as told, stayed quiet, though he kept his gaze focused on Scaramouche’s face. Too bad for him, since Scaramouche leaned back down so his face was tucked in the crevice where the other’s neck and shoulder connected. He didn’t want to think anymore. It’s not like he was thinking very properly anyway, since his body felt like it was on fire. After a few more seconds of nothing, Scaramouche sighed and mumbled, “So?”
“Calm down, calm down, I was figuring out what I was gon- ah-” Scaramouche lightly grazed one of his sharp fangs against the 11ths neck, telling him to shut up. “Okay, Okay, just get on with it, I get it…” he chuckled as the hand still at the shorter’s waist carefully moved to slip beneath his shorts.

The Balladeer feels like Nahida has trapped him there to suffer, but in reality, she's just trying to set him on a better path. Eventually, he starts to come around - it just takes her a while to get him there, and he has to hit rock bottom first before he can climb.
