When he looked up concern was on both of their faces, he couldn’t tell whether or not it was real.

Before Tommy can protest, Phil presses hard against the wound and he howls. It melts his skin, setting him alight and all Tommy can do is thrash weakly and cry but Phil doesn’t relent. It hurts. Everything hurts and it’s all too much and Phil is pressing harder and then black spots begin to dance his vision, his eyes rolling to the back of his head.
He’s out.

The set lights burn warm on his skin. The smell of plywood is heavy in the air. It's almost all too much. Tommy should be used to this. This is far from his first show, yet the nerves are working him up. He has memorized not only his lines but also his costars at this point and the nervous energy has worked up a stone in his stomach. This was his time to show that his skills could keep going into adulthood, that he wouldn’t fizzle out like so many that came before him.
That was if he could perform this role perfectly. He couldn’t slip up, not once this time.

Techno shook his head fondly and hopped off his platform.
“I think we have enough bloopers already,” Niki smiled, coming in and taking the prop from Tommy.
Karl briefly appeared on screen to show the clapperboard and cut the camera.

He slipped, his brain supplied oh so helpfully. Roughly, he felt his feet hit the ground as water splashed up around him, white-hot pain shooting through his ankle. Fuck, he was going to be in so much trouble for that, wasn’t he?
His mind was racing, what could he do? He had to keep this going or he was in deep shit. Ignoring Dream’s questioning glance, he drew his bow again, firing the second arrow. Dream got the hint, walking over closer to Tommy. Fear trickled into Tommy’s gut as his ankle throbbed in pain, even the smallest pressure causing it to flare up.
“Nowhere to run,” Dream jeered, looking straight down at Tommy with his bow drawn.
Tommy heard the snap of the bowstring before he felt the arrow imbed itself into his gut, dark red seeping into his shirt. He stumbled back from the impact, wincing as he put pressure on his foot.
Wilbur and Tubbo came running at him, with Jack and Niki in tow. Wilbur grabbed him, lifting his arm over his shoulder to help Tommy stand, much to his ankle’s relief. Tommy clutched at the arrow in his stomach, hands coated in blood.

When Tommy abruptly quit, so did the show, and Tubbo despised the hushed whispers of Tommy’s name laced with sickly sweet pity everywhere he went. He almost hated Tommy himself, not for quitting but for leaving Tubbo in the wake for him to deal with. As if Tommy wasn’t alive. As if Tubbo lost his best friend.
How the hell could he have had lost a friend he’d never made?
All he lost was the only thing he could call his: the three-wall set that was more of a home than his real one had ever been.

Techno spares a long glance at the man, frowning, before standing up and ruffling Tommy's hair. The kid sends him the cutest little glare, paired with the tiniest pout. Techno is almost tempted to ignore the director's call and stay with Tommy, but alas, work is work.
"Go sit with Niki, I'll join you soon." Techno gently nudges his son back towards the table. The kid stays looking at him for a bit, clutching at the older's pant leg, before he slowly releases his grip and dejectedly walks away.
