It was one of the rare days Sasuke returned to Konoha in between his travels. They were training—Sasuke with his sword, getting used to it with just one arm; Naruto with his new hand and a few hand signs—when a sharp pain in his left shoulder made him stumble and drop his sword. Immediately, Naruto was at his side, brows furrowed, blue eyes questioning. Sasuke told him it was nothing, that Sakura had warned him about possible muscle stiffness after losing his arm.
Naruto had hummed, staring at Sasuke’s arm thoughtfully. Then, “I can massage it for you. D’ja think that’ll help?”

'Huh? What the heck could this be?’ Naruto gets onto his knees and searches for it until he takes it out the bush and forces it infront of his face. He recognises it's a book, quite scratched from getting dragged under the bush and a corner seems bent up. He is almost disappointed it wasn't a cool weapon or some secret scroll but looks eerily similar to the book his sensei has.
Feeling the textured paper with his fingertips, he flips around and sees the cover, which is completely plain orange with medium sized black lettering and some punchy comic style red letters.‘Naru..Sasu..?’ Naruto mumbles out as he swipes the layer of dirt to reveal the last part of the title, ‘An exciting ninja story? Lots of action confirmed?’ a hasty sound stopped his track of thoughts.
Or: Naruto accidentally finds a 'Narusasu' fanfiction book after it somehows falls out of the sky.
He knows it’s fake. He knows it’s ridiculous. Needless to say, he is traumatized. But he also can't seem to put it down—and Sasuke is starting to wonder why Naruto keeps staring at his mouth during training.Bookmarked by Cdc256967

“Why do you go so far for Sasuke-kun?”
Naruto frowns and lets his hands drop. “Haven’t we had this conversation already?” He scratches his nose. “Like, three days ago?”
Sai gives him an unreadable look. “There’s something about it that still doesn’t make sense to me.”
“It’s like I said before,” Naruto eventually says. “Sasuke’s my friend. I don’t care if other people don’t think he’s worth fighting for, because I…” He trails off. There’s nothing more to add to what he’s said before, so he simply says it again. “He’s the person who acknowledged me more than anyone else. That bond… I’ll do anything to protect it. Even if he doesn’t want it.”
Sai stares at him unblinkingly for a few moments. Naruto fidgets a bit. He doesn’t know why Sai’s scrutinizing him to such an extent when he hasn’t actually said anything new, but—
“Oh,” Sai finally says. “I see.” He taps his fist into his palm. “You’re in love with Sasuke-kun.”
“Huh?” Naruto blinks before laughing. “Nah, you got it mixed up. I’m in love with Sakura-chan.”
Sai shakes his head. “No,” he says with surprising confidence. “You’re not.”
