Summary
The townsfolk leave Nightmare in the woods for the Fae, which is the correct way to deal with a changeling. This is a problem for several reasons.
1) Nightmare is said child and he is not a changeling.
2) Since he is not a changeling, there is no Fae coming to collect him. That means he is being left to die, which is marginally bad.Perhaps his only hope is the Fae he’s unwittingly drawn the attention of. It’s risky, but really, he was just betrayed by the town he grew up in, so… he has nothing else to lose, why not?

Fail, and be lost to the Fae Realm forever. He's already attracting the attention of Spring Ruler!Ink, Summer King!Dream and Autumn Ruler!Error as he journeys through the Fae Realm... all who which seek to take him for their own gain.
But Blue plans to bring his friend home, whatever the cost.

Summary
The Council makes a deal with the fabled God Dream for his assistance in defeating his tyrant God twin, Nightmare. However, Dream will not help them for free; he locks eyes with Cross, and decides he wants him in exchange for the war victory. It's an easy decision, is it not?
There's just one problem with this arrangement: Cross is a spy, sent by Nightmare himself. And Nightmare is absolutely unforgiving of traitors. But he cannot offend Dream, for he too is an Immortal. He cannot forget how dangerous they both are, how any wrong move will end in his demise or worse.
(Cross forgets, however, that he himself is mortal.)
[OR: A Empire/Kingdoms UTMV AU, where Cross is caught between the crossfire of Immortal/Gods! Dreamtale Twins. Who have also been influenced by God!Ink and God!Error; it's a cycle, really.]

Summary
The King and Queen make a deal with the Winter Ruler!Nightmare for a child. But alas, life heralds death, and they refuse to pay their end of the bargain. And so on the Princess' christening, she is cursed to never live past seventeen by Nightmare.
But perhaps, there is hope: the Summer Ruler!Dream could raise her out of Nightmare's reach, very well protecting her from his curse. But what will be the cost for taking aid from the Fae again?
OR: a UTMV X Sleeping Beauty AU, where Winter Ruler!Nightmare is the one to curse the Princess, Summer Ruler!Dream comes to love the Princess as if she were his own daughter, and Cross is a member of the King's Guard sent to retrieve the child when the time has come.

No one objects, though, because they are not allowed that awareness.The characters in Hamilton relive their lives on stage as their afterlife in a continuous loop of limbo. From the very first song, everything is laid out cleanly, and the characters are already doomed.
OR: An in-universe take on how the inherent tragedy of Hamilton being a play might assimilate into the narrative.

In a world where the divine has grown weary of grandeur, an immortal finds meaning in life through a deal with the Fae for a child. His wish is granted, but not without a cost.
OR: Ink is an immortal that makes a deal with Fae!Error for a child, that turns out to be a child Fae i.e. Dream. Child Fae!Nightmare is also involved, much to his peril. Though, surely, things will all be alright in the end. Surely nothing bad will occur within a conflict that involves a past God, a Fae, and two child Faes. Surely not?

Cross has had a long history of the wings on his back screwing him over, but this might just take the cake. It's not the first time a ruler's vastly overestimated him, but how on earth was he to take the life of the Nightmare God? It was frankly ridiculous.
The fellow Avian that's also been abducted by the frankly rather mad King for the same purpose fully agrees. What was his name again? Dream?
Or: Cross's an enslaved Avian who must now find a way to kill the Nightmare God (which may or may not be an Avian Nightmare that's just gained quite a reputation through the centuries) or risk his new master's wrath. At least he has the lovely company of another Avian named Dream, who definitely isn't Nightmare's brother, what?

Dream loves him, yes, but a Fae’s affection is not that great of a thing to receive at all. But Cross doesn't know that.

Summary
Cross visits Dream for no reason in particular. They happen to talk about some things. Like how Cross, despite being in Nightmare's group, continues to drop in on him from time to time. Like how he keeps coming by, but retracts whenever Dream shows even a smidge of affection.
Like how their love is destroying them both but neither of them can let go.
Not about how they met, Dream (then physically a statue but mind free to explore all the dreams of the world) and Cross (with so much blood on his hands and an empty world and aching heart), but how they separated: Dream, free of the stone, scrambling to his knees and calling Cross' name but there was no one. Cross, abruptly awake and alone, calling Dream's name but there was no one.
The next visitor would be Nightmare, and Cross would take him up on his offer. The next time they would meet would be on the battlefield, and they would be enemies (they could never be enemies).
The question is, though, who betrayed who?
