Summary
Dream is a good Emperor. He's benevolent, active and his long time in the position of power made so long any challenge for the throne is simply unthinkable.
It's a little strange, any outsider might think. Someone in reign for so long, yet so well-beloved? Bizarre. (But they would not understand. Dream's fundamental nature made it impossible for him to be hated.)
Completely unrelated, there's a legend that speaks of an ancient being who always protects the Empire in wartime, even from the days when it was a mere Kingdom. He's known as the Protector.
Dream knows him as Ink, but also as a fellow Immortal.
Ink knows him as Dream, but also as the Guardian. It's fitting to use the, because the other Guardian is long dead. The dead Guardian had been known as Nightmare. He had also been immortal.
How do you kill an Immortal?
Easy. You kill them with another. But that's all in the past now, isn't it?Isn't it?
Someone waits in the shadows; neither immortal nor mortal (not anymore). He is patient. He is waiting. Soon he will become more than immortal or mortal; become a God. Who will stop him?

Dream loves him, yes, but a Fae’s affection is not that great of a thing to receive at all. But Cross doesn't know that.

Summary
The Council makes a deal with the fabled God Dream for his assistance in defeating his tyrant God twin, Nightmare. However, Dream will not help them for free; he locks eyes with Cross, and decides he wants him in exchange for the war victory. It's an easy decision, is it not?
There's just one problem with this arrangement: Cross is a spy, sent by Nightmare himself. And Nightmare is absolutely unforgiving of traitors. But he cannot offend Dream, for he too is an Immortal. He cannot forget how dangerous they both are, how any wrong move will end in his demise or worse.
(Cross forgets, however, that he himself is mortal.)
[OR: A Empire/Kingdoms UTMV AU, where Cross is caught between the crossfire of Immortal/Gods! Dreamtale Twins. Who have also been influenced by God!Ink and God!Error; it's a cycle, really.]

Summary
The King and Queen make a deal with the Winter Ruler!Nightmare for a child. But alas, life heralds death, and they refuse to pay their end of the bargain. And so on the Princess' christening, she is cursed to never live past seventeen by Nightmare.
But perhaps, there is hope: the Summer Ruler!Dream could raise her out of Nightmare's reach, very well protecting her from his curse. But what will be the cost for taking aid from the Fae again?
OR: a UTMV X Sleeping Beauty AU, where Winter Ruler!Nightmare is the one to curse the Princess, Summer Ruler!Dream comes to love the Princess as if she were his own daughter, and Cross is a member of the King's Guard sent to retrieve the child when the time has come.
