Or: There's a black hole in the centre of the Earth. Oscar Piastri is a Nobel-decorated physicist, with nothing to show for it but an addiction to cigarettes and a ring without a finger to put it on. These two things have more in common than one might think.

Summary
Lando fishes out the phone from his pocket, ducks down a little when there’s a sharp bang of a door being opened rather harshly on the opposite end of the hallway, puts it up to his ear. “Hi, love.”
Oscar’s voice is crackly, a bit weak ‒ the connection must be shit, this far underground. “Category five bad news incoming,” he says. “Gonna be late to dinner.”
The bangs rise in both intensity and tempo, sparks flying from what Lando thinks might have been a metal lab table at some point, pressed hard against his back. He twists around, returns fire. “You’re kidding.”
Or: all Lando wants to do is finish his job, get his genetically-engineered murder child some much-needed exercise, and be home in time for dinner with Oscar's parents. Nothing in his life works out the way he wants it. Death and Other Lies: the Squeakwel.

It stops being so easy when Lando invades his dreams, tempting him through the most casual actions during the day, until the only thing he can think about is burying his canines deep into Lando's neck.And, surprisingly, he's not the only one who seems to enjoy that idea.

Lando's official first day on the job doesn't go as planned.
Plucking his own soiled undergarments from a pile of royal fabric in the form of clothes had certainly not been part of the plans. And having the crown prince, the very man he works for, blindly groping across the space between them until he finds his target, sleep-warm skin contacting Lando’s hip, and tugging Lando back into bed—the bed lined with sheets consisting of a royally high thread count—had certainly, most definitely, not been part of the plans either.
Lando is royally fucking screwed.

Only to find his face mere centimeters away. His lips are puckered.
Like he’s expecting a kiss.
Oscar jerks back as if electrocuted, heart lurching into his throat. From the corner of his eye, he catches Nurse Brown hastily covering her mouth to muffle her laughter.
“What are you doing?” Oscar demands, his cheeks burning.
“Smooching you, mate,” Lando slurs as though that’s explanation enough, making exaggerated wet sounds for emphasis.

Oscar shakes his head slowly. He lifts a hand, then starts enumerating: “I remember the podium, debrief, hotel, taxi, club, Max, some horrible dancing, tequila –”
“That’s what I—,” Lando starts to say, relieved and disappointed at the same time, and then there’s a glint of something on Oscar’s hand, and instead he says, “fucking hell, what the fuck.”
Oscar splutters, his eyes darting around the room and across Lando’s body quickly in search of damage. “Wha—?”
“We’re both wearing rings,” and Lando’s head is spinning, but something tells him he’s right. “We’re in Vegas. We’re both wearing rings in Vegas, Oscar.”

Lando might be going clinically insane, cursing and fuming and spewing out choice words that'll have his own grandmother rolling in her grave when absolutely no one save for his steering wheel will be able to hear. Still, he smacks his palm down on said steering wheel, horns blaring out.
But then he sees it, that opening right there, and that other lane seems to be faring slightly better. So he yanks on his steering wheel, absolutely floors it—pedal to the metal and all that—attempts to divebomb his way into that gap. He doesn't bother putting on his signal lights, doesn't check his mirrors or he'll hesitate. He’s nosing his way into the lane, he’s got it, he’s there, he’s an amazing driver unlike these terrible useless drivers who shouldn't have even been able to sit behind a wheel—
And then there's a terrible resounding crunch, his whole car frame shuddering from the impact. Lando takes a second to register what that even means, another second to look out the window and see the man floored on the tarmac with his motorbike, and he thinks: shit.
