Never in her wild dreams did she think the moment she stepped out of the train station she would be thrown into such chaos of Wild Mega Pokémon, a tournament that she had no plans to take part in, and a need to save the city people and Pokémon.
If she knew ahead of time, she might not have stepped off that train; she might have gone somewhere quieter, less likely to have her name thrown around and attract a past that she wanted no part of.

It looked like what you imagine a feral animal trying to appear smaller in front of a predator to look like. Except the so-called predator was Sprout, who looked equally -- if not more -- frightened. "..Cosmo?" Sprout took a tentative step forward. Not a single time did either of the pair blink, as if afraid the other would disappear once out of sight even for a second.

TLDR; Cosmo is twisted but retained sanity. Sprout finds him and helps rehabilitate him.
