In other words, Dante's still going for that 'Father of the Year' prize mug, Nero's life keeps speeding down the rabbit hole, Lady might finally be in for a date, that won't involve ruining her clothes with various amounts of demonic body fluids, Trish is the only person with a vague idea of what's going on, while Credo and Kyrie have absolutely no idea what they got themselves into, and Patty's just sitting in the corner, trying to get a role in a school play and some decent grades in maths.

In which Vergil and Nero come to understand each other through a four-day odyssey of blood, and deal with the consequences thereafter.
Or: How Dante, Vergil, and Nero learn to become a family again despite all their painful history. Copious amounts of angst, whump, hurt/comfort, with equally large servings of brotherly and father-son fluff to make up for it.

Dante's fine. He's not exactly in position not to be fine, because, hey, between his literally damned father, dismembered-chewed-up-and-scorched mother and brainwashed, now-finally-one-hundred-percent-dead twin, he's basically the lucky child of his family, so he's peachy. Maybe he should drink a little bit less, sure, and he might be talking to himself a little too much, but other than that, he's golden. He's fine. There are literally no family tragedies that could ever threaten him anymore, which is cool, because, come on, it's been getting a little old.
Unless, of course, there's some freaky island, inhabited by even freakier cultists, who happen to currently be in possession of his surprise nephew, but what are the chances of that ever happening?

Or, the one in which Dante's totally, absolutely, perfectly freaking fine, thanks to which Nero's definition of 'fine' will forever remain critically skewed, Lady's trying her best to be the responsible adult, and Trish is just hanging out in the audience with a glass of wine.

Contains family feels, a wee bit of the good, ol' angst, a lot of my poor writing, and a substantial amount of headcanons, though in my defense, it's not like the DMC series has ever cared for canon all that much, right?

Giving your inner demons an outlet, after so long of repression and submission, it will do anything to get that freedom again.

Summary
Dante hated this. He was the one to introduce Nero to the stuff in the first place and now he watched as it slowly killed him. He sat with Nero in his arms and watched as the kid’s breath slowed, watched as he gradually became unresponsive, and all he could think about was how this was all his fault.
Or the one where Nero discovers Morphine and finds that it helps him. Until it doesn’t.

The first thing Leon registered was the cold stone floor under himself. So, he wasn’t home in his own bed, then, he thought wryly as he struggled to get up. It was a bad move, as the second he moved he also realized that he hurt all over. His head was splitting, his shoulder aching, and he felt like he’d taken a good beating.
…which was because he had taken a good beating, he realized belatedly. And now he woke up with his head pounding, in what looked like a basement of some sort, aching and pissed off and apparently chained to the wall.
“Fucking ow…”
The familiar voice from a few paces away made Leon’s eyes fly wide and he scrambled to turn around. “Piers?”
Instantly Piers looked up, eyes equally wide. “Leon!?” He was frowning as he met Leon’s gaze, still struggling to free his wrists from the cuffs around them. “What the fuck is going on here?” he asked, obviously frustrated.
