He pressed one of his hands to the backrest of the sofa and used the other one to lift his chin up towards his face, making him feel her breathing. She squirmed on her seat, not knowing how to react, so her body decided to stay put, and she looked directly at him. He wasn’t able to show her his true self made him sigh, but the fact that at some point she would feel much more than this eased the feeling.

Your heart was pounding. You felt frozen to the spot, a rabbit corned in by a fox. It didn't matter if the caretaker claimed they wouldn't eat a human. It didn't matter if she was having a lovely chat with these things, that they could talk at all. You were scared of this creature blocking your exit. Existentially burdened and with the vague feeling you might throw up.
Suddenly “Vervain” moved, her claw stretching towards you, and you jerked back. She stopped, tucking it back against herself. “I like humans,” she said quietly. “Stay here.”
“Wh-what?” You stammered, placing a hand to your chest.
“Vervain,” Gladys warned.

“How bad could it be?” you ask with a laugh. “If I order you to do what you’d like to me, then there’s no way that it can go wrong.”
In response, he smiles politely.
