Melinda May agrees to foster Jemma Simmons, a young girl whose murderous father killed her mother and left her abandoned in a mountain cabin alone for six months. Will she and her adopted daughter, Bobbi, be able to get through to the traumatized girl and show her that she is worthy of love and security?
I know that there are a billion Melinda May/foster care fics, but I'm taking a slightly different approach to this one and hopefully you all like it! Phil and Daisy will make an appearance later on.

Summary
After a mission gone wrong, Sam makes a personal sacrifice to save Jack and the whole team. Now, back on Earth, the weight of that decision threatens to break her. Jack stays by her side as she finally confides in Janet and begins trauma therapy - taking the first fragile steps towards healing. But when normal life becomes too much to bear, Jack offers her refuge at his cabin in the wilderness, giving her the room to breathe she desperately needs. There, away from the world, their special bond is tested and deepened as they navigate the long road to recovery together.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I originally planned this with the rating “teen and up audiences” all the way through, but Sam and Jack had other ideas - the story took a turn, and here I am, bumping it to “explicit”. No worries though: the spicy stuff is exclusively in chapters 14 & 15. Thanks for rolling with it!
