Summary
Too easy, to imagine it like she’s really seen it a hundred times before, like it’s familiar to her as breathing, like there’s room for her to slip in. Like it’s anything more than a well-worn fantasy as easy to slip into as a favorite pair of shoes, perfectly broken in.
She shuts her eyes and it unfurls before her in her mind’s eye, nearly close enough to reach out and touch.

Summary
Astarion is the one who gets to curl up with Wyll at night, and kiss him, and soak up all that princely romance that Wyll can’t help himself but spill on anyone who gets too close. In turn, Wyll gets to kiss Astarion on that cute little pointy face and help him feel like a person again. He also gets the pleasure of being the only one Fangs trusts enough to be sweet with.
If Karlach could trade places with either one of them, even for a night, she would. But they have each other, and that’s what counts. They’re her friends, and they’re happy together, so she’s happy for them. And they do love her. Just the fact that they’re here in hell with her is proof of that. She knows that much even when she’s moping about how they don’t love her like she loves them.

Summary
Hallucinations come a little more naturally to elves than other races. The vapor-thin veil between the reverie of trance and stark reality takes so little effort to pierce. An elf dreams through their memories without ever truly sleeping; thus, dreams do not always wait for consciousness to exit before stepping onto the stage. At least, that's how Astarion sees it. He's never had his assumptions checked by a second opinion.
Astarion, at Tav's request, eats something that doesn't agree with him. This has unexpected consequences.

It was with a great sense of shame that Cazador realized he had overindulged in the boy. Not indulged him, but indulged in him. He had bit into him like fresh piece of fruit, torn him open, and now he was broken. It was a terrible lapse of judgement. A well-tended spawn would never think to do something like this.

Summary
At night, alone in his bedroll, Astarion’s mind wanders. Away from himself, his body, his own recursive and increasingly irritating patterns of thought—it wanders and it wanders until it, eventually, ends up back where it started. Astarion on his knees, entertaining someone else.
He has spent two hundred years fantasizing about freedom—ludicrous dreams, where he is fed, where he is warm, where he parts Cazador’s head from his neck with his fangs—the stupidest, most basic, crudest ideas of what he might do if only he had the power to control himself. And now that he has that control, he fantasizes about someone taking it away again.
Specifically, he fantasizes about Wyll.
For some time, now, Astarion has fantasized about Wyll Ravengard putting him in his place. This isn't a problem, until suddenly it is.

Astarion snorted, relieved that he had not been caught in a moment of weakness, “Indeed they do.” he said, “Do stone eyes run in yours?”
Wyll just chuckled, “An elemental somewhere, perhaps, in the Ravengard family tree”

Summary
Wyll often indulges in watching Astarion out of the corner of his good eye. He languishes like a cat with feet propped up, a book in hand and a goblet of an unlucky highwayman they’d passed that day. Karlach watches too, like a tigress with brilliant orange eyes while she strokes a whetstone down an axe blade as if it were the vampire’s own translucent flesh she were honing.
Until the infernal engine cools down, Karlach cannot have what she wants. In the meantime, Wyll is gracious enough to act as a catalyst between the three of them.
