But unfortunately, it’s physically impossible for them to actually, well, sprout.” Annabeth makes a gesture to enunciate her words. “Well, unless I was a god, I guess.” She muses, before shrugging. “Not like that’s gonna happen, so…”The rest of the conversation was meaningless, but that one line offered on a whim caught in gold to watching eyes.
Annabeth shouldn’t have tempted the fates like that.
She made it far too easy.

They weren't large or painful, and most kids at school thought they looked cool, so he didn't think about them. If he didn't want to answer questions about them, he wore a shirt with sleeves. It was that simple.
