For the next few years, Peter became his dad’s shadow.
They spent everyday together, tinkering in the lab, laughing through disastrous attempts at cooking that left the kitchen in chaos, or curling up for movie nights that inevitably ended with Peter falling asleep halfway through.
It only got better when his dad helped form the Avengers. They had all moved into Avengers Tower in New York, and while it was quite different from his life in Malibu, Peter didn’t mind. He loved it.
He’d have breakfast early with Nat, Bucky and Steve. He’d get spy lessons from Clint (which mostly involved crawling around in the vent and shooting people with nerf guns). And he’d even sometimes get science lessons from Dr Bruce Banner himself.
Life was great. Perfect even.
Until Harley showed up.

As a kid, he'd been so excited to be an adult; he'd volunteer at the homeless shelter with May, maybe get an internship at Stark Industries or Oscorp, and go to MIT and get his bachelors in physics. If he could afford it, but as a kid the money didn't matter as much as the idea of being so smart and helping people.
