Can’t help but think that the pack probably expects him to show up at his doorstep soon. Thinks maybe he should shoot a text for backup.
He thinks twice. Knows they wouldn’t answer. Knows he’s on his own.
Knows he ought to grab his bat before he goes in.

This gives pause to Speirs, takes them both by surprise. There is an unrushed quality to his tone even he does not quite recognize; this is a gambit he’d thought he grew out of. It always worked, years back, when Eugene would do just this; offer his languid temptation, his salacious bait. Honesty is an attractive tell, and a man like Speirs would not take such a thing lightly. This is a ploy to garner his undivided attention. He’s been starving for that, too.
He’s been hungry; starving for company. It tastes of deliverance. He worked for it, he earned it, this pleasure-pain-sex-fuckmythroatsirplease feeling deep in his gut.

Mike tilts his head, flirtatious confrontation as the car rolls to a stop. “Bit early in the evening to be discussing my mouth, don’t you think? Sir?”
“Tell you what,” Harvey muses lowly. “You make me look good tonight, I’ll do more than just discuss it. Fair?”
Mike gulps and nods, light-headed, and he doesn’t think it’s from yesterday’s blood loss. He can feel Harvey’s breath on his lips, smell his cologne, subtle and smooth, thinks maybe he’s gonna get luckier than he’d hoped, and then with a smirk Harvey reaches across his body and cracks open the door. “Out,” he commands, and Mike sighs, hauling his tired ass out of the car. Figures.
