Summary
Castiel Novak and Dean Winchester have virtually nothing in common: they’re both from different countries (Cas would argue that Canada and the US aren’t that different but Dean begs to differ), they come from wildly different types of families, and where Castiel excelled at school Dean failed. When it comes to their social skills they’re also diametrically opposed: Dean is outgoing, funny and easy-going; Castiel is more of an introvert who likes books and still has to see any Star Wars movie.
In real life though, Castiel Novak and Dean Winchester are both professional soccer players with the same position in concurrent teams.
It would be complicated enough as it is, but Dean and Cas have also been a couple for several years, hiding their relationship from the public and homophobia in the world of soccer while living in Europe away from their families.

Dean likes his doctor, but his doctor doesn’t like him.
Accidental friendship ensues, heartwarming bonding type moments occur, and oops!friends become best!friends.
But best friends aren’t supposed to feel the way Dean feels about Castiel. He knows this. So he ignores all the things that he can’t help feeling. When he sits and watches a movie with his best friend or when they are arguing about which method of coffee brewing is best, he pointedly doesn’t look at his friends lips, or the adorable way he tilts his head when he doesn’t understand.
Dean ignores his feelings.
That’s the way he knows how to keep his best friend.
Just ignore the butterflies.

Four years ago, Dean graduated from high school and went full-time with his job at his godfather Bobby's auto shop. Two years ago, Dean's mom passed away, leaving him in charge of his younger brother Sam and the house. This summer, Dean realized he couldn't keep the house on his own, Sam went off to college, and Bobby dropped a bombshell: he's terminally ill and planning on leaving the auto shop to Dean.
Dean jumps to fix all the problems. He's got to find a boarder to afford the mortgage, attempt to micromanage his brother's life from across the country, ignore Bobby's imminent death, and contemplate getting an automotive repair certificate from the local community college.
There are just a couple of problems: he can't control everything, Bobby's not going to let him ignore reality, deciding to go back to school is harder than it seems, and his boarder is none other than his high school friend and crush, Cas, who is back in town to teach at the local elementary school and, apparently, turn Dean's life upside down even more.
