His eyes follow in their direction until they are met with a short man in a thin, creamy-tan sweater laid over a simple white t-shirt that pokes out the bottom lining. He wears loose jeans, the dark denim contrasting against the white of the shirt.
Warmth surrounds him. He is trapped under the waterfall of cascading light, making the white of his visible skin appear as though it is golden. He glows like a fairy, shrouded by magic. Clay is immediately entranced by the yellow luminosity surrounding him, enticed by the radiance of the figure he has longed for so long to touch.

The window swings open to a man with loosely wavy hair reaching to the base of his neck, hands gripping a metal stick and ready to swing. His thick eyebrows loosen as the tension in his face relaxes when he realises that Clay is responsible for the noise. He lowers the stick with a soft smile on his face.
“Clay, what in the name of God are you doing,” he says aspirated, dropping the stick to the polished wooden floor and reaching out with a gloved hand to help him inside.
“I came to see you. I didn’t see you at the race today.” Clay jumps to the floor. He leans out the window to pet Ender’s snout before waving her away. Her wings flap into the distance.
