Bruce peels his eyes away from the monitors to look down at the menace on his lap and barely contains a look of disgust. Big blue eyes stare up at him as he rests his chin on Bruce’s thigh, and as their eyes meet, the pathetic, whimpering little whines are replaced by excited huffs, the clickity clack of dancing paws on concrete, and the rhythmic thumping of his tail hitting the leg of the table.

“Kid,” Jason interrupted. “Enough statistics. What the hell is this about?”
Robin slowly lowered the tablet with his powerpoint presentation and looked up at Red Hood.
“You care about Gotham,” Robin summarised. “Gotham needs Batman. Batman is missing and so is Nightwing. We need you to fill in for Batman.”
“You want me to cover Batman’s patrols?” Jason clarified.
“No,” Robin said. “I want you to be Batman.”
Jason bluescreened.
(Or: Batman and Nightwing mysteriously disappear before Red Hood has even started antagonising them, Robin is desperate, Gotham needs Batman, and Red Hood is Batman-Shaped.)

“I asked Alfred, he said that the JL decided to have mandatory vacations if they do not cut themselves slack, once a year. Bruce’s year was up soooo, this is happening.” Duke shrugged. “I’m cool with it. I’ve never really been out of Gotham.”
Jason frowned. “Wait this is vacation? Bruce told me this was a case.” God he was going to kill Bruce once and for all if the asshole actually roped him into coming on some kind of family vacation by claiming it was a case. What kind of dumbass was he for even believing that dumbass shit lie in the first place?
