I'd like to think that my intentions were noble. That my actions were justified somehow. That my choices, on a cosmic scale, can be weighed as a net benefit rather than a negative.
Hubris.
Or... maybe it's necessity. We tend, as a whole, to paint ourselves as the victor in our personal histories...
Perhaps I grew to used to being the hero.
Perhaps I should have stopped to consider that I might become the villain in someone else's story.
