Holding his family, and himself, together by thin threads, he helps Carl adjust to his new life, while trying to figure out how to exactly care for a baby alone.
Thankfully, this cul-de-sac he found himself a place in is filled with peculiar and interesting individuals who - for the most part - are ready to accept him and his children into their community with open arms.
