Summary
His vision swims, refusing to focus, but he can make out a vaguely human sort of shape, all in red. It’s not the dark, threatening red of the ocean he’d been abandoned in. Instead, it’s overwhelmingly bright, a beacon, a promise of safety.
“You're alive.” Finally, he manages to blink away enough of the blood and general fatigue to recognize a man’s face within the red helmet. In the darkness, Simon can't make out the color of the astronaut's eyes, but they're soft and fixed on him.
In which Simon is rescued after escaping the ruins of his own universe. With help from a clumsy, but persistently kind scientist and an alien he's just glad isn't eel shaped, Simon starts to believe he can finally put the past behind him.
Unfortunately, he's not all that made it through.

Summary
It’s meant to be a one-off favor to Robin, Eddie passing himself off as her boyfriend. Robin gets to hang onto the secret of why she never so much as bats an eyelash at the guys who come into Scoops Ahoy. Eddie gets more ice cream than he knows what to do with and the opportunity to pull one over on the former King of Hawkins High. Unfortunately, it all works just a little too well, and Eddie finds himself continuing to come back. Before any of them know it, Eddie is annoyed to find he’s pining over a straight boy, Steve is drowning in guilt as he falls just a little bit in love with his friend’s boyfriend, and Robin would really like them to figure out their nonsense before she dies of secondhand embarrassment.

Summary
As far as Eddie can tell, Steve has always had a surprising capacity for hiding what he’s feeling. Eddie has seen Steve face down almost certain death without flinching. He shepherded them through the worst days of their life (or at least the worst of Eddie’s). He carried Eddie out of the Upside Down, grim but determined. Even now, even for the little things, he makes himself a buffer between The Party and much of the unpleasantness of the world they live in. So it means something, probably, that Steve keeps blinking, suspiciously bright eyed. It means something that he’s quiet and croaky when he murmurs, “I don’t know what to say.”
Robin bumps her shoulder against Steve's, which breaks whatever spell had kept people at any sort of distance. “Pretty sure it’s usually Merry Christmas.”
In which it becomes apparent that Steve's family won't be coming home for the holidays. Since he refuses to "invite himself to someone's house for Christmas" as he puts it, Eddie and Dustin rope The Party into bringing Christmas to him instead. -

Summary
When his reconnaissance mission makes it clear that the Qishan army is marching on Cloud Recesses, Wei Wuxian knows they don't stand a chance on their own. He reports in requesting military support, but instead of the backup he hoped for, all Wei Wuxian gets is an order to return home.
He doesn't actually know anyone from Gusu, really, but they're still people. With destruction inevitable and every kingdom turning a blind eye, Wei Wuxian makes a choice. The only choice, as far as he's concerned. If no help is coming, Wei Wuxian will just have to save them himself.
Fooling Wen Ruohan's soldiers into arresting him so he can stage a prison break? That's definitely on purpose. Setting events in motion that could reshape the world as they know it? That... might have been an accident.

Summary
“Geralt?” There’s an epic written in that single word, whispered in the space between them.
Given how much time Jaskier spends trying out lyrics and melodies on the road, it's peculiar for Geralt to return from a contract to hear the bard playing something he's never heard. Something he's clearly performed enough times that the audience knows it, even if Geralt does not.
It's downright suspicious when Jaskier lies about it.

“Really?” Jiang Cheng does not look convinced.
“Jiang Cheng has always been tolerable,” he repeats more firmly. Because that is the truth. Because before loathing, envy, hatred, and the worst of emotions, back when they were disciples of Cloud Recesses, Lan Wangji had looked at Wei Ying and thought, beautiful. Lan Wangji had seen Jiang Cheng, and he hadn’t been able to think. He had been struck speechless.
The one where Jiang Cheng is as riveting as she is unpredictable, Lan Wangji is both a disaster bi and a disastrous drunk, and Wei Ying is horrible at being a ghost and worse at being alive.
(Jiang Cheng was born a woman. That makes a difference.)

Wei Ying had closed his eyes on the cliff at Nightless City and let himself fall back. Lan Wangji’s heart had leapt out through the wall of his chest. Lan Wangji had stopped him, pulled him forward and thrown down a teleportation talisman and swept him away. He would not, could not let him slip through his hands now.

Jaskier opens his eyes to look at her, and it feels like he’s seeing something she doesn’t even see in herself. It’s uncomfortable. He closes his eyes again.
“I haven’t sung,” he says softly, “in nearly 6 months.”
