Andrew is a fucking psycho. It wouldn’t do any good to his threadbare mental stability to see him with a black eye, a split lip and a long scratch running down the whole length of his right cheek, from under the eye to the chin. Hence the secrecy. Nothing personal. Just a precautionary safety measure because, fuck, Andrew is already troubled, he wouldn’t be happy if he landed in a much higher pile of shit for attempted murder. Or just murder.Aaron gets the shit beaten out of him because of a debt. Andrew, of course, won't let it happen a second time.

Abby's perfume is feminine and warm, cinnamon and apples, so different from the alcoholic fumes he smelled on his mother and on Josh. Abby pulls him into her embrace until his head rests safely on her shoulder, puts one gentle hand on the back of his head and the other on his arm, whispering words of comfort that he can't even comprehend. He wonders if that's what it feels like to have a mother. Then, he wonders if Abby ever would have hugged him like this if he hadn't been raped.

This fic begins with the birth of Narcissa and explores the political shifts of the era, including Walburga's struggles as a woman in politics in the early 60's, Cygnus' dark past and the huge secret that could potentially ruin his life, as well as Alphard fighting to keep Tom Riddle's infectious politics at a distance from his personal life as the young lord suddenly returns from decades of travel and brings a brand new world view with him.
Fascism is on the rise, families are getting torn apart, and old wounds are being reopened.
And of course, the children are growing up. That, in and of itself, shifts things.
