Buck would have loved to sink into the ground at that moment. It was bad enough that he was exposing his scars in front of the whole Buckley-Han household, but that Jee was the first to notice gave him the rest.
He didn't want Jee to see him like this, he didn't want anyone to see him like this.
Or: Buck needs a little bit more conformation to be alive, so he hurts himself, unfortunately is Jee the one to notice it first.

Summary
There is something so glaringly not Buck about the scene in front of him. That knot of dread becomes a boulder, plunging into Eddie’s gut and nearly knocking the wind out of him.
“Hey, Chris, wait here a second, would you?” Eddie’s already crossing the threshold.
“But, it’s just Buck-”
“Chris,” Eddie turns around, scrambling to collect the worries that are slipping through his internal defenses like a sieve. He meets Christopher’s gaze, his son no longer a boy but a young man. He doesn’t ask or demand. He begs. “Please. Please just wait.”
It’s probably fine. All a misunderstanding. Eddie is jumping to conclusions. Even at his worst, Buck would never—but if Eddie’s worries are well-founded, he would never forgive himself for letting Chris see what’s inside that house.

“Yeah, Buck,” Eddie grits out. “Like a trauma counselor. Someone who specializes in PTSD.”
“I don’t have PTSD. I’m immune to PTSD,” Buck deadpans.
Eddie shoots him a look. “No one’s immune to PTSD,” he says quietly. “No one.”
On the drive home, Buck and Eddie talk.

The hall suddenly quiets down at the sound of several footsteps coming closer at a steady pace. Lan Wangji watches the entrance, and tries to ignore the tremble of his heart when his eyes see Wei Ying walking into the hall. Whatever excitement he feels, however, is quickly squashed as he takes in the expression of absolute fury on his beloved’s face. Wei Ying is carrying a quiet, but obviously upset, a-Yuan on his hip, and Wen Ning is following closely behind. A few steps behind, Jin Zixuan is grim-faced and pushing a furious Jin Zixun in front of him. Lan Wangji is sure his minor headache will turn major before whatever spectacle is about to happen is over.
Or, how bringing a-Yuan to Jin Ling's one month celebration leads to things getting revealed, and a whole bunch of lives being saved. (And Wei Ying gets the time to realize going to Gusu might be good, actually)

His eyes skimmed the hormonal breakdown, only half-absorbing what he knew it all meant over the buzzing in his ears, before they dropped to the lab’s conclusion at the bottom of the page in bold type: PATIENT’S LEVELS ARE INDICATIVE OF PREGNANCY.
“Carter?” Carol asked and her hand reached out to grasp his elbow like she was afraid he was about to collapse. “Is it-? Are you alright? You went awfully pale.”
“I’m…” John trailed off and then he let out a breathless laugh as a small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. “Shit, I’m pregnant.” Another laugh, steadier and unmistakably elated, bubbled up as he raked a hand back through his hair and let the information sink in.

Chandler blinked, unsure what to do with that. His brain immediately went down the familiar sarcastic avenues, reaching for the punchline, but they all felt too sharp against the honesty in Joey’s tone. For a fleeting, ridiculous second, he wondered if Joey was hinting at something more, before immediately shutting that thought down. No way. It was Joey. Joey.
“Okay… so?” he said finally, leaning back against the couch, trying to keep his tone light. “What do you need from me? A pep talk? Fake boyfriend résumé?” He forced a small laugh. “A mint?”
He waited for Joey to laugh with him, to bounce the bit back, to give him that easy grin and make it safe again. But Joey didn’t. He just stood there, shifting from foot to foot, hands fidgeting with the hem of his shirt.
The silence stretched.
“Yeah…” Joey started, voice lower now, careful. “I was kinda hoping... you’d, you know... help me practice.”

“Eddie.” It comes out as a plea, though he’s not exactly sure what he is asking for.
“I know, baby, I know. I’m almost there.”

Eddie opens his eyes. Uneasiness creeps up his spine. Sharp, like a jolt of electricity. Petey is staring at Buck now, his hold on Eddie has loosened. And suddenly, Eddie wants nothing more in the world than for Petey to turn his attention back on him.
But Buck's gaze is fixed on Petey. He’s deliberately avoiding looking in Eddie’s direction. Because he knows if he does, he’ll have to betray him.
“Anything,” Buck says. “Please.”
