Summary

But Padmé was dead. He saw the body, the coffin surrounded by flowers, the still belly that had once carried their child.

Summary
Anakin defeats Obi-Wan on Mustafar and saves Padmé from death with Palpatine's help. Their relationship quickly becomes strained as Padmé turns further away from Anakin the more entrenched with the dark side he becomes, causing her to exile herself to her homeworld. For many years, she keeps her distance from Anakin, who eventually kills Palpatine and becomes Emperor himself. But when Emperor Skywalker discovers that Padmé has become involved with a rebel cell on Naboo, he pays her a visit for a reckoning.
