Logan doesn't know, and maybe that's why he's currently standing outside the driveway that leads up into the grounds of Xavier's mansion. It would be so easy to start walking, Dopinder promising to come back at a text (Logan still hated these damn phones, jumping forward about twenty years in terms of technology still weirded him out) before driving down and out of sight. He could leave and go home, back to that shitty apartment with a dog he was learning to love and a woman who gave Wade a run for his money every damn day, and forget that they lived exactly 47 minutes away from the place that haunted him every damn day. Yet he's just standing here, heart hammering away in his chest as he stares at the ornate gate that had once meant safety to him.

"Here, you all look exhausted, and tea always helps." While he and Janine had always been courteous to each other on the best of days, Nicholas had always been jealous of her ability to flip a switch and become a kind voice to victims at the drop of a hat. The family wandered off to a nearby bench to take a breather as Nicholas folded up his pad, looking up into a familiar half-covered face, idly noting her choice of face mask was a bit strange out with so much clean air. "Nicholas."
"Janine. Thank you, for getting them some tea, I had planned on getting them some myself." He adjusted his stab vest as the two began to wander down the sidewalk, pausing when she held out an extra cup he had failed to notice in her other hand. "Oh."

"Ah, no, but thank you." There's a strange look in Angel's eyes as he looks at the cafe, before taking a sip and giving a small sigh of relief. "I have missed proper coffee..."
"Livin' off rations is kind of shit." The other blonde shrugged, sipping his coffee while looking around at anyone other than Edward. "Thanks though, nice of ya not to charge."
"Think nothing of it." There's a bit of an awkward silence that settles over the trio before Edward walks away to give them some space, noting that Angel was starting to gather attention and figured he would head them off the best he could. No one got much of a chance to get close enough before a patrol car came nearly charging up the street, stopping just short of where all of Nickolas' luggage had been stacked. Angel had just enough time to put his cup into the newcomer's hand before he was scooped up into a hug by a laughing Danny, the Sergeant twirling Nicholas around once before setting him down with the biggest smile in over six months.

Summary
In typical Nicholas fashion, everyone's safety and happiness rated above his own, and he's found by the Andys passed out in his office a day before Danny wakes from his coma. Overworking and infected wounds that he'd just slapped bandages over did not a bedfellow make, and if his fellow officers broke the law speeding him to hospital, well, that was their secret to keep. Luckily for the London native, he's unconscious when Danny has a right fit about learning of his condition once he's awake, his body deciding that he was going to catch up on his sleep, whether he was ready for it or not.
Nicholas feels something warm enveloping one of his hands when he finally wakes, confused at the popcorn ceiling above him that was a few good years past its replacement date. The cogs in his mind are trying to move past the fog that flooded his mind, but whatever code he was going to cite scattered from his mind when he realized who was holding his hand.

Wade's fingertips slide up to the base of the exposed claws, where tender skin is healed fast around cooling metal. Draws the pads of his fingers carefully along either plane of one claw, stroking the skin there, and Logan draws a sharp breath.
Wade stills. "That hurt?"
Logan shakes his head, and Wade keeps going. Presses a little harder; feels Logan's fingers twitch.

Logan makes a mocking noise “No one here knows that. Only Chuck used to call me that sometimes. I don't even remember what name I used when I was in the army or during the wars. I had dog tags once, but it just said ‘Wolverine’ there.”
“Do you want me to do that too? You want me to call you...James?”
It sounds weird and wrong coming out of Wade's mouth, like something unnatural and not quite right.
Logan shakes his head and rests it on the pillow, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down in his throat as he swallows “No, I like it when you call me...Logan. It doesn't have to change.”
Logan doesn't like change, even in the little things, though he has had to learn to adapt against his will.
“Okay Peanut, I'm not going to stop doing that.”
