Absently, Ed has spent a lot of time wondering whether Roy will be able to face his brother the day he learns that Ed has died for his cause. Roy’s probably thought about it, too.

Summary

Edward likes things to hurt a little. It wakes him up, steadies him, excites and calms his system simultaneously. He has ALWAYS liked it. And maybe, maybe if he'd had a normal life, maybe if he'd been a normal kid, it wouldn't have turned into a giant fucking issue.
But he doesn't get to be a normal kid. He doesn't get to have a normal life. So instead, it becomes the literal definition of a 'fucking issue'.

He’s trying to wean himself off of it. Wean makes it sound more serious than it is. He’s hardly an alcoholic, the dependency is entirely psychological. There’s a voice in his head that whispers for now whenever he thinks that, and it still whispers it when he quits for a week or a month just to show he can, and when he’s driven desperate and insomniac back to the bottle in his nightstand it crows it, victorious, triumphant, spiteful.

In the mirror, he checks himself for a haunting, wide eyes and soft chin, even though he doesn’t need the mirror to know that it’s nothing he can fix – that it’s nothing at all, really. He’s seen this type of nothing before, underneath Reigen’s skin.
He could try to scrub at it, but it wouldn’t wash clean.
