Admittedly, it was not that bad during the day. There were plenty of warm little reading nooks with dedicated fireplaces to curl up by, and it was practically nothing for Gale to keep a few space heating spells going in the back of his mind while he focused on his work, but even he couldn’t hold concentration while he slept. As the sun set, a bitter cold started seeping into the tower, especially in Gale’s huge open floored bedroom with its massive floor-to-ceiling windows with their sweeping views of the harbor. The closer they got to the dead of winter, the more Astarion found himself waking up in the middle of the night achingly cold.

Summary
Karkat saw Sollux shaking as he unconsciously gripped the blanket on their communal pad. His eyelids squeezed together so tightly it didn't even look comfortable---like he was having a bad dream or something. Suddenly, he got the bright idea of crawling in bed next to him to try and calm him down. In his defense, he was half asleep when he thought this wouldn't end with him being murdered.
(Chapter 1 and 2 are different stories with a similar plot. Chapter 1 is fluffy hurt/comfort and has Solkat. Chapter 2 is dark all hurt no comfort and has Erisol in a toxic abusive relationship. They're not related.)

“Hi. Manners, ever heard of them?” He doesn’t wait for an answer. “Great. I’m busy. See this?” He taps the monitor. “It’s work. You want trail cam twelve, you can use these incredible tools called hands.” He flaps his own at the keyboard like a flightless bird. “Keyboard’s right there, big guy. Space bar, enter key, whole world at your fingertips. Go wild. Type your little heart out. I’ll be over here not being your personal IT guy.” He swivels back half an inch, then swivels forward again to squint at Derek’s face.
Derek’s eyes narrow as he steps closer, posture tight. “Do it.”
“No.”
