He doesn't like what he finds.
Shouta can't take care of a kid on his own, so he has to figure out how to move forward without hurting said kid in the process.

Midoriya Izuku was not made to be special. Not in any particular form, shape, size or function, it seemed. He didn’t need grandiose, didn’t need all the fame and fortune and riches that seemed so commonplace these days. He didn’t need to be all-powerful, all-knowing, a genius, or well known. And Izuku didn’t want to be greedy, or anything, but he would’ve liked to be special. Just a little bit. Not in a particularly self-absorbed way, but he would’ve liked just a little bit of the special that seemed to surround his peers on the daily. Just about everyone around him had so much special while he had… basically nothing. Maybe a couple hundred years ago, back when quirks weren’t a thing, he would have stood out in a crowd with his green curls, been special and unique for once in his life.
Knowing his luck, though, he probably would’ve ended up burned at the stake for witchcraft instead. That’s how they used to do it, back in the day, he’s pretty sure. With gingers. Green isn’t red but Izuku’s pretty sure it’s different enough to get him set on fire, back in the day.

But now, his life had taken a turn for the better. He had found a new family and he was strong, stronger than ever before. And although he had become everything he had wanted to be as a child just without a quirk, he still had no interest in becoming a hero. Being the best vigilante in Musutafu would have to be good enough. Really, he was happy with his current situation. But would he continue being a vigilante and give up the chance to become a hero alongside Nedzu and Eraserhead?

Summary
The three events that were causing Izuku ongoing problems, even a year after the events had occurred, were these: first, losing his parents in a fire deemed a murder-suicide; second, failing to die with them; and third, saying he was dating the vigilante who had been on the scene and supposedly saved him. Fucker. He was the vigilante on the scene. What the fuck was he supposed to do about that now? The fourth event, though it hadn’t been causing him problems for a year, was that something was wrong with him and his fourth train ticket. It was too bad he got blood on it, he was looking forward to running away to Sendai. Rather hard to do that when your ticket was damaged.
(or: izuku loses a lot of things, including his parents, his ability to fly, and his will to live. what he doesn’t lose is his life. it gives him enough time to sort out some of his issues.)

“Deku,” Bakugou called as he knocked on the door. “Are you sure you don’t want to come to the gym with us? We’re—”
“I already said no,” Deku cut him off, barely opening the door. His usually wide eyes were narrowed in a glare.
“I know,” Bakugou huffed. “I was double-checking since you never pass up an opportunity to train.”
“Well, I said no today. Thanks for inviting me, Kacchan.” Before Bakugou could say another word, the door was shut in his face.
“What the hell was that?” Kirishima whisper-yelled.
Deku had been, for lack of a better term, a bitch lately. Which was odd. “Bitchy” was a word people would use to describe Bakugou, never Deku. For someone who was usually the sweetest person ever, he had a temper lately.
“I told you, he’s been a complete dick,” Bakugou sighed.

Or, when Deku begins to act uncharacteristically angry, Bakugou is determined to figure out the cause. He has a guess as to what could be troubling Deku, and he hopes that he's wrong.

Many years after the final battle, Izuku Midoriya lives alone in a small apartment, living the same day over and over by choice. He pushed everyone away and isolated himself to avoid feeling anything ugly and to forget about what he could have been. But now Bakugo comes back into his life and decides this time he won't let Izuku shut himself away anymore, and that he finally needs to wake up to reality.
