Louis stares at her, his pulse suddenly loud in his ears. “Why are you telling me this?” he asks.
“Because,” she replies, “I think you’ve already decided you’re going to be his next partner.”

“Are you the stage manager?” Lestat de Lioncourt asks.
His accent is lighter in real life than it is on the recordings Louis has heard. That’s the first thing Louis notices. The second thing is that he, with his long blond hair, blue eyes and square jaw, is quite possibly the most handsome man Louis has ever seen in real life.
“Ah, no,” Louis replies, when he realises he’s staring. “Viktor…I mean, I…” He feels tongue-tied, and suddenly a lot more sympathetic towards Claudia.
“I see.” De Lioncourt nods like Louis is making perfect sense. “You are Viktor’s…what’s the word?”
“Photographer,” Louis puts in, at the same moment De Lioncourt suggests, “Situationship?”
“What?” Louis squawks.

When Armand mentions that Lestat is down on his luck and looking for a sugar daddy, Louis asks Armand to suggest him as an option. Louis expects to dictate the terms of their arrangement. He has a strict protocol in his mind of how such arrangements should go. He plans to keep things casual, non-romantic, and sate his desires with Lestat when he has the need. But Louis underestimates everything about Lestat and soon learns he cannot script a hurricane.

Lestat is…he doesn’t know. A late quarter-life crisis, maybe, or a very early middle-life one. A way to satisfy a curiosity he didn’t know he had until he met Lestat. A distraction from a boring marriage or a way to generate some excitement in what had become an easy life.
Louis can't decide which is more accurate, and it was making the whole thing all the more exciting and all the more disturbing.
