Many had marked their calendars in anticipation of what they were effectively calling “Judgement Day” for one loathsome sinner. The event itself was rather absurdist, the first of its kind, for no sinner had ever caused such an uproar that they demanded a second Judgement post-mortem.
What punishment, everyone thought, would be fitting for a man who made such history?
Once, this creature was a man whose voice and manner were adored by the many who followed him. Now, he stood alone, chained, and without the strength to raise his head.

Two childhood best friends turned into strangers reunite thirteen years later, under unfortunate conditions.
Rody, once a carefree and rowdy teenager, had taken life seriously and became a businessman. As the owner and chef of ‘La Gueule de Saturne’ he has managed to gain a respectable social standing, despite his own aversion toward cooking. The money and praise he receives do little to soothe his loneliness.
Vincent, once a timid boy who never had to work for anything, now finds himself kicked out of his prestigious home due to his identity. Suddenly faced with the dread that is having to survive alone, he desperately searches for a job. When the local newspaper writes that ‘La Gueule de Saturne’ is looking for a waiter, Vincent applies for the job. He takes a gamble and hopes that Rody will at least entertain him, for old time’s sake.
Rody cannot resist, even though he should. Vincent is a force he cannot resist, like a bright flame tantalizingly dancing before him and urging him to come closer, despite the fact he will get burnt.
Rody cannot resist this beautiful flame’s incessant warmth.
It is not his fault he has always had a strange fascination with fire.

In another life, Vincent would have taken the life of Manon Vacher and Rody Lamoree. In another life, Vincent would have cut Rody up into pieces and feasted upon his remains. In another life, Vincent would have descended into madness, having committed indescribable evil for the most selfish of reasons.
What would have happened had he given in to those diabolic urges? If he hadn't hesitated? If that unexpected event never took place? If he had carried out his plans with no shame or remorse?
Let us hope the world never finds out.

"Chasing petty romances isn't the end-all be-all in life."
Vincent was not a man who could easily be swindled with anything, especially not love. Love is not something he wishes to bother with. He already had everything he could've wanted. Fame as a chef, a world-renowned restaurant of his own, and a nice apartment on top of said restaurant. What more could he ask for?
Well, it was possibly the attention of the stupid little waiter that worked for him, and he didn't even know it yet.

And so he walks, trudging himself down the empty street, hair sticking out in all directions, missing an entire ear, blood and sweat sticking to his skin, his and Vince’s blood mixing into his uniform, god, he probably looks like a mess. Probably smells like one, too. Like, blood, and the cheap, lemon-scented colonge that seemed to make the customers more lenient with him.
He turns a corner, and to his suprise, there actually is a restaurant still open. A fast food joint, at that. He feels like he’s hit the jackpot, even after whats happened. He limps all the way to the door, the bell ringing as he steps inside. Its also cold inside, but like, in a refreshing way. And it smells like heaven. It almost made him forget about his injury, about the blood, about Vince.

The dining room is quiet.
Vincent sets the plate down with care, aligning it to the table as if there were anyone present to judge him for crookedness.
Presentation matters. Always has.
He knows every step that led here. He remembers the heat of the pan, the sound of fat meeting metal, the timing measured down to the second. His hands never shook. They never do when he’s cooking. This dish is the culmination of weeks of certainty, of a belief held so tightly it had to be true.
Vincent adjusts his grip on the fork, the tines catching for a moment before sinking in.
A decisive pierce. Clean. Professional. The resistance is correct. The fibers part exactly as they should. That alone nearly makes him smile.
He lifts the bite. He does not rush.
Anticipation is half the meal, after all.
He places the bite into his mouth.
...He chews.
He pauses.
He waits.
Nothing happens.OR
He hopes it was a dream.
Vincent waits for Rody.

Yet something in Vincent had ached for that foolish man. Maybe it was the way the man saw Vincent - truly saw him - not as the cold, iron-hearted boss the rest of the kitchen feared, but as a person. Or maybe it was simply that the man cared, openly, earnestly. He had a heart wide enough for anyone who needed it.
Vincent never believed he could love anyone besides his bistro or himself. But there he was - the proof that Vincent had been wrong all along.
