Summary
He simply stared. Eyes wide. Limbal rings green levin across blackened sky. No words passed, and he gripped her arm and pulled her to him with a sharp yank.
He was warm. Solid. Alive. Outline of muscle and ridges of scale beneath soft fabric that clung to every dip of his shape. He smelled like home. Inviting. The part of him that belonged to her an instinct. Her arms fit around the barrel of his chest, and he smoothed her ears back in the same motion he tucked her head beneath his chin.
"Sid, I—"
He shushed her, and for a span of time that she quickly lost track of, heartbeats a number she itemized in her memory, they simply stood. Held one another. Pretend had begun anew. Inside the door was a fantasy they agreed they could never keep, but needed all the same, and they both knew it.
"Come in."
"If I come in—"
The words had no chance to take flight. He gripped her chin and turned her mouth to meet his, and backed them both through the door.
They agreed to part amicably. With Elidibus' soul gone to aid her, and on the eve of a potentially one-way journey to save the world, the Warrior of Light has one stop to make.

It seems I may have murdered the love of my life for nothing, because the world is not safe even with the Unsundered gone. In fact, it seems killing Elidibus has allowed Fandaniel to rise." It hurt. Oh, how it hurt to say, and now to admit that the quest to free Elidibus' soul would be forced to wait. "So, I will stop him, like I've stopped every threat you've turned me against." She turned about, meeting each of their eyes. "You can help me do it my way, or find a new Warrior of Light."
Returned from Ishgard a newly minted Dark Knight, The Warrior of Light is faced with the fateful consequences of Elidibus' death by her hand, and once again burdened with the fate of the star.

“Damn, Parrish, didn’t think you had this in you.”
Adam had the pleasure of keeping this in his periphery, Kavinsky’s laughter, the sound of him lighting his cigarette over the mess on the floor, the tang of sweat from where summer coiled into bodily crevices. Chance was, he was high enough not to remember this tomorrow — though the careless grip on his cigarette kept him apprehensive. A body was bad enough. They didn’t need to burn down a church in the process.
He kept his eyes on the stained glass ahead, refracting moonlight in intersecting patterns across the floor; beguiling and celestial fog where it covered streaks of dark, viscous malice sinking into floorboard. If he kept himself fixated on the etchings of the glass, cut his eyes from crystalline panels, from grisaille and time-worn ambers, he wouldn't have to sit in the stifling tang of copper where it invaded his nose, sat acidic on his tongue. This, tracking the trace lines, trying to catch tree branches through the white glass, kept him far away.
“It was an accident.” He managed. Kavinsky laughed.
“Call it what you want, it happened. You did it.”
