Summary
After Merlin's magic is discovered by Arthur, he understands the king's need for some time apart. But the loss of the king's trust is a bitter pill to swallow, and even more so the loss of his love. Forced to wait until Arthur is willing to deal with him again, Merlin begins to realize that the loss of Arthur's love isn't just emotionally painful, but physical as well. He hasn't been able to breathe without pain since that day in the forest. And his cough is producing flower petals, a sign that something much worse is going on. Merlin isn't stupid, but he without options. There's no cure, and even if there was, it's definitely not pressure he's willing to put on his love. Merlin is content with his decision.
Arthur isn't.

He's not going to let Lucifer and Michael win, so He sets something in motion to ensure Sam, Dean, and Castiel all stay in the fight.
Meanwhile, Gabriel was TRYING to mind his own business. Of course, that was before God threw John Winchester at him with no explanation.

Summary
Follows Dark Side Of The Moon. Sam doesn't understand what was wrong with his Heaven, and Dean is struggling to trust a brother who so clearly didn't care for his family. After hurtful words are exchanged and Sam leaves, Castiel finds himself explaining exactly how Heaven should've been for the Winchesters, and Dean realizes that he and Sam truly need each other.
The Dean/Sam is more implied than anything else, based on the concept that they're soulmates. So, this isn't proper Wincest, but it can easily be read that way if you're looking for it.
