Scar can’t answer, too busy trying to control his breathing. It was Grian who had helped him build their home in the desert. It was Grian who had chosen to stay by his side, even after he didn’t have to anymore. It was Grian who had sat on the mountain with him, pointing out the stars and naming them.
It was Grian who had looked at him when they were the only two left, and had said there had to be a winner. It was Grian who had led him back to their mountain, hand in hand, and beat him to death in the shifting sands.
Grian remembered none of it.
OR,

A cool fun fact about box turtles is that they are one of the most freeze-resistant animals alive. See, when they get too cold, their bodies have this amazing defense mechanism that diverts their blood to their core to keep them alive. Super unfortunate for the Hamato family’s blood pressure, because in severely cold environments a box turtle’s heart will actually stop beating. Fascinating right?
It would be soooo fascinating, in Leo’s humble opinion, if they had known about it before finding Mikey dead on the floor of a freezer.or, box turtles can literally have 80 percent of their bodily fluids frozen and LIVE. what the fuck.

Um,” he stares at Scott for a moment longer. “Can I, uh, can I come in? Or,” he allows himself to trail off, still watching Scott. The crown certainly suits him, at least, even though the pinkish-orange colour of the coral is not something he’d ever have considered to go well with cyan.
The door swings open in front of him, and he almost startles at the abruptness of it, jerking his hand back and down to his side. “So,” Scott’s grinning, that grin that makes his teeth look far sharper than they actually are, “you've come crawling back, have you?”
“It’s,” he laughs, inching forward, “It’s not crawling back, it’s…sheepishly wandering in.” He smiles a little as he continues to inch his way forward, sliding past Scott and through the rather narrow ‘doorway’ when Scott doesn't move to stop him from entering.

Grian fell to the ground, shit shit SHIT- Grian wasn’t one to swear but not felt as good a time as any, even if it was only mentally. He was currently running from his friend, Mumbo, who was apparently a fucking VAMPIRE! Grian was trying to escape by trying to fly back to his mountain side mansion, but of course he’s stuck in the jungle, where it’s hard to fly without ramming into a tree.
Grian had been friends with Mumbo for a long time, and had even been on hermitcraft with him for a season and a half! But apparently, Mumbo had neglected to tell him ‘hey I'm a vampire, that’s why i hide on the full moon!’ But no, no! Grian had to find that out the hard way, by trying to ask Mumbo something in the whole turf war thing, and him, in an instinct filled frenzy Mumbo began to chase after Grian, trying to kill him? Eat him? Turn him? Grian sure as hell didn’t know! Hell, Grian only found out he was a vampire because he was able to send a message out and got an answer before being chased down.

Grian sinks to his knees, breath coming hard and fast from the exertion. They’re barely an arms’ length apart, now, but it doesn’t matter. The stake clatters to the ground from his fist, forgotten. “You Turned me,” he murmurs, barely a breath, “so that I’d have to spend eternity with you?”
Scar’s expression is unreadable. His jaw works for a moment or two before he asks, voice splintered, “Does that really sound so bad?”
Or: Grian confronts Scar, but they're both vampires with miles of emotional baggage. Everything hurts and nothing is okay (until it is).

“The night air was chilly and crisp, a full moon shining down into the forest, glistening off the leaves that Scar watching blow back and forth with the wind.
The cup of beer sloshed a bit as his hand shook. He couldn’t discern if it was his anger, or the anxiety curling in his gut.
His silly little construction worker costume felt out of place with his mood. It was all happy and cheery, as if he worked for Disneyland, but he was anything but. The hat of the costume laid on the railing of the deck, the plastic cat face looking at him. His safety vest hung off one shoulder.
He held his cup out over the railing, tipping it. He watched the liquid start pouring out of it. He tried to imagine it was all his anguish pouring out of him with the liquid but it didn’t work. He quickly crushed the cup, dropping it to the ground.“

Scar wasn’t having a very good night, and neither was Mumbo. Scar, being a nice person, was quick to make Mumbo his friend. He regrets it.

There was a pause. Etho dropped his head to the ground again, too tired to hold it up anymore. He shifted his left arm so the communicator lay close to his head, allowing him to speak quieter. He didn’t feel like he had the strength to keep speaking so loudly.
His eyes were heavy, and all he wanted was to fall asleep right now, listening to Bdubs' voice until he couldn’t hear anything at all.

yeah, mumbo likes killing things. loves it, almost. the blood everywhere—oh, he may even love it more than redstone. but human blood was a different story. he couldn’t just kill any hermit. even if they offered, he didn’t think he could agree to just.. do that. though, the worst day of his life began when scar had nicked himself with a stone sword, just enough to draw the tiniest amount of blood.
it didn’t get any better when a bloody grian had shown up at his base, clutching his side in pain, looking as if he might pass out at any given moment.
