Soap’s defined brow scrunches, clearly giving the question actual thought. The easy answer would be ‘because you can’ or ‘because you like hurting me, you absolute bastard man’, and both are technically correct, but he knows that’s not the answer Ghost is looking for. He gives up with a bit of a pout as he looks up for clarity and shakes his head.
“Because this–” Ghost digs the tip of his gloved thumb into the forming welt on Soap’s cheek and smiles at the little whine it garners, “is mine. Your pain, your fear, it belongs to me, not a dead man, and certainly not every grunt with a gun. They don’t deserve to have that part of you. Do you understand, love?”

Chuuya sat down on a couch in the corner and shrugged. “He doesn’t like clothes shopping, but we plan meals together. He likes some brands, others he hates. They mostly taste the same to me, so I just let him handle what we buy. I know the generals. That and his moods; I couldn’t care less if a pasta is big or small, but he does, so I just let him handle it. I’m not the autistic one.”
There was a kick to the chair, and Dazai pouted at him as he signed.
