The Manor, full of his family and shadowed by his fights with Bruce, isn't enough to make him feel safe. For that, he has to go somewhere else–somewhere unexpected. Somewhere the worst of his opponents won't think to look for him

Who, as you’ve briefed, is likely well within a berserk state. And you want me to fight him without killing him.”

Dick gets a call in the midst of his heat informing him that Bruce has been kidnapped and is likely compromised due to an Ivy concoction. Dick refuses to get any of his family involved, well aware how dangerous Bruce is when in a rage. Slade is unfortunately the only person Dick can think of that can go toe to toe with a feral Batman long enough for a rescue.

Grayson makes another one of those sounds, somewhere between a gasp and a cough, like he’s trying to simultaneously swallow and eject something stuck in the back of his throat. “Jesus, kid, what the fuck is it this time?” Slade says.
“Yes,” Grayson chokes out. “What the fuck it is is yes, I’d like that, and stop asking me questions.”
